Hi, yes I'm a n00b, but I did search and quite a while too but can't seem to find the right answer or I just suck at searching. :p
Anyway, I know I got to do my timing chain since I already removed the top upper (useless) chain guide and got less rattling leading to my assumption that it's the lower guides. I know I need to get OEM (factory, not aftermarket) :
tensioners (upper/lower)
chains (upper/lower)
new guides (left/right)
new bolts for the tensioners
(I'll throw in the water pump and front oil seal as well)
My questions are, do I have to get the cam/crank gears too? And where can I find the cheapest OEM kit besides the AMS/turbo240 ($330) kit?
2nd half (sorry for long post)
I recently just did a 5sp swap on my car (thanks to all the threads here), however recently it started acting up. It pops out of reverse everytime now. Did I break something? I heard from our shop foreman where I work that the thrust bearing of the output shaft gets eaten up or basically destroyed pretty quickly and of course if that happens all the gears won't line up right. Any truth in that? All the forward gears are fine I suppose except for the reverse. Has anybody else experienced this? If so, anybody have a fix for it besides a rebuild?
Thanks guys. Really appreciate it.
