Well honestly I think it had something to do with your studs breaking. But as far as them breaking while you were driving is kind of werid. Did you just recently have you tires changed or just recently put that passenger tire on? If so you probably over torqued it too the point where it would snapped like it did. Usually this happens right when your putting the lug nuts on not after. Really werid man

Loose lug nuts or over torqued lug nuts.

wow, that's weird,

looks like someone's playing a prank on you and gave you fake studs,

i'm thinking overtorqueing as well...

Ohhhh man. Those are definitely the shop's fault. If you got new wheels on Christmas eve & they over/under torqued them, THEY should pay for damages..

By the way, which tire shop was this?

holy crap! this happend too me before on my 94 honda prelude. i just had some tire's put on an was driving it for like 2 days. then it started making a weird knocking sound, kinda like my axel was going out. when we took off the wheel to see what was up i only had one good stud.

WOW that crazy, your lucky you didn't get hurt
I think you might have overtightened your nuts, same shit happened to my little brother, well almost the same, he broke 2 of the studs because he tightens the hell out of them

Bet you dude went crazy w/ an impact and blasted the lug nuts on. Shop did that to me Christmas eve and cross threaded one of my studs.

ive seen this sooooo many times... its from overtightening just like everyone said... also maybe from overtightening a crossthread. iirc, your ligs should be tightened no more from 80-100 lbs of tourque.

Tons of wheels shops / tire shops use air tools to tighten your wheels...

instead of torqueing them properly :(

Damn, I have spacers so its x2 the amount of studs to worry about.

Provide pics of the wheels too. Did you have hubcentric rings for them? If not, that may have exacerbated the problem with incorrect torque spec.

Judging by the way the studs broke, it seems like they were overtorqued.

Thanks for posting this, it's a good heads up for people who think hand tightening (guessing) or air-tooling your lugs is "good enough."

You over-tightened them. Use a torque wrench. 80ft/lbs.

thread can be locked now.
