i'm sorta a newb to the 240 world. i just bought a new 1993 hatch 240. i wanna go with the KA motor on it rather than swap it. wonderin' if anyone can give me any tips on what my first upgrade should be other than the obvious (intake, exhaust, headers, etc.) help me out. xP

Drive it for a while and fix what breaks. Just stick to maintenance stuff for a bit.

that ^^ or most people suggest suspension .. brakes and yes learn ur car first and fix what brakes ....
after that .. hmmmm build it id say ...... cams valve springs, head gasket, pistons all that good stuff .... depends what u wanna do with the car bro ... just look at other peoples setups sometimes see there experiences what they do best with the car and so on gd luck!

Switching to Altima fans is a nice cheap upgrade. The j30 diff was my next upgrade.

First upgrade should be research after research based on your need.
Thats what I did and would do.

almost exactly what i was thinking...if you're gonna drift, learn on a stock KA...you'll learn alot more on how to handle the car...just save your money and DONT buy exhaust, headers etc. because you could just buy an sr if you keep saving...

heres my list in order

-GOOD coilovers
-tie rods/tension rods
-seat
-strut tower bar (really makes a difference on a fastback)
-sr

the power is last...kinda

Do the tune up.
Use good plugs and plug wires.
Change all the fluids like rad and oil no matter if the guy said oil was changed.
Then get some stiff springs and hopefully find a j30 lsd.

LOL. I/H/E Is worthless on a KA. For the price of thoes parts new you could almost fund a complete KA-T kit.

Not if you go eBay!!!

Short Ram intake - 50 bucks shipped
3 inch catback exhaust w/silencer - 180 bucks shipped
Stainless steel headers - 160 shipped

And the power gains are like night and day. Trust me.
Also another good cheap upgrade is an underdrive pulley - 50 bucks on ebay. And it's the same as the UR pulley. I've owned both.
Oh and upgrade the driveshaft to one-piece aluminum - 350 bucks. Best upgrade I have ever done.

Total.... $790.00 And that's counting some stuff you never mentioned!!

Damn I'm good.

at least 3" exhaust, that will give you a wee bit more power and you can still retain it if/when you go boost

but yeah, i'd save up and go look at ka-t.org

Drive it and repair as necessary. Change out all the old bushings, replace the shocks and springs, get new tires/ wheels, and align it. All the other stuff you can replace along the way. Get it to drive better, handle better, and brake better. Instead of just upgrading the power, refresh some parts, and get the car handle well turning or going straight lowered or not. You get my drift.
