Valve cover gasket.

Does it matter what kind of Gasket I use?  are some better than others?  what should I get?  I like the good stuff.  Only the best for my baby

i just got mine at NAPA i think all gaskets are pretty much the same.

NAPA stuff id fine, Felpro is prob the best.

I gotta say i went autozone.  my old on was brittle and slight cracked on one side.  so hopefully this little piece of rubber will Kill that oil leak=)

So, you went from a flat metal gasket, to the rubber track gasket? I bought a felpro gasket and it was one of those rubber ones that I have no use for. &nbsp;see ya

Come on guys, original factory parts are the best. &nbsp;I went and bought mine from Nissan and it cost 15 bux. &nbsp;You can't beat that with a stick!

There &nbsp;should &nbsp;be a &nbsp;slot. &nbsp;Rubber gasket come factory.

yeah I think so too.. I didn't think Valve cover gaskets were made metal.. (i was scratching my head on that one) &nbsp;Head gaskets are made metal to lower compression. &nbsp;Oh well, I guess I'm just gonna get the OEM gasket from Nissan.

This may be a little off topic, but does anyone know if there is a company that makes I think its copper head gaskets, for hi-performance apps. such as turbo or Nitrous? &nbsp;Or do the OEM gaskets good enough for everything?

Sorry it took me so long to reply guys, no i dont have those confused, if I were to be pulling my head all the time, my car wouldnt have the damned timing chain rattle, my valve cover gasket, when I pulled it off, was metal, not sure if someone made one, and covered the track, but I didnt want to scrape ot off and then be wihout a gasket

I just changed mine. &nbsp;mine was rubber. part of it felt pretty hard but it was rubber. would a metal gasket keep a seal as well as metal metal?

The head gasket is metal, the valve cover gasket is rubber! &nbsp;Neither will have a replacement made of a different material.

they're made of metal to take higher combustion pressures, be more re-usable and can lower compression.

It doesn't really matter, as long as it's a reputable manufacturer. Why? well firstly there's not a lot of pressure &nbsp;in that part of the engine and any decent manufacturer will use a rubber that's relatively heat proof.

lol.. &nbsp;I used to ask such newbie questions.. &nbsp;I have long sense learned much about these things... &nbsp;what an OLD topic.. &nbsp;(btw - valve cover gasket has been replaced for many moons now.)

A metal gasket is usually thiner then rubber ones cause the material is stronger...so that would raise compression...or they could make them thicker...which would lower it...really when you get a metal gasket i've heard that you can specify the thickness from some companies.
