Everything you listed is a deterrant but is not really going to keep your car from getting jacked.

240's are the easiest cars to steal (maybe behind Hondas)

So yeah, GARAGE.

I hear many guys say that 240s are easy to steal or jack, so how do they get in that is so easy without breaking any windows and towing cars? It's better to know the ways how they can get into our cars that can help us think our ways of preventing car thefts. If you guys don't want to post the information publicly, feel free to pm me the info!

nrg quick release w/ nrg lock. but as for them breaking into it, i guess just get a decent alarm system (a 2 way). Low jack is also an option.

Tell me about it somebody broke into mine this past friday. Took my radio, digi cam, and Cd collection. And yet no broken windows or anything(they even locked it when they finished). But then again it was easy for me to open it when i locked my keys in it on saturday:naughty:

garage your car when youre at home.

when youre out somewhere else... a quick release and a alarm kinda does the job. the thing is..someone else can easily put their steering wheel there..

so... +1 to nrg locks

a kill switch would be nice too.

these cars are ridiculously easy to break into. do everything you can to slow them to make them pick a different car to steal/break into

here is what you can do for cheap.. get 2 sets of hella airhorns.. two flasher relays connect it to a good alarm (hide the alarm harness well). wire that to a back up battery under the car.. mount the hellas deep in the bumper (preferably those that run fender liners so no easy access.. so let them pop any of the doors, window, hood.. whatever.. when that shit blows up.. aint no motherfucker gonna be dumb enough to stick around with 4 of those horns blowing on top of their lungs.. i heard my shit few years back 4 blocks away.. when it blows it really blows..you will not just wake up the entire block.. dont get surprised if neighbors call the fire truck thinking a fire alarm had gone off. The secret is to a uber stealth install.. and of course to thiefs its all about time which is going to be very limited in above situation.

Its really easy to break into an s13, windows pull right back.

What you need to realize is, everything will help to an extent, there have been cases where theives have driven cars down the road with a pair of channel lock pliers because the steering wheel was removed. There is a way around every theft deterrent known unfortunately. Your best bet would be 2 way paging alarm, numerous fuel/ignition kill switches, removable steering wheel and... full coverage insurance w/ your car being professionally appraised with all its modifications so you get the money back.

Bottom line is, if they want your car enough, they'll load it up on a flat bed and be out in less than a minute.

As far as these threads helping theives, any respectable car thief knows alot more than what is learned on a forum.

take the wheels off, steering wheel out, ziptie the driveshaft to an o-hook from the ground, battery gone, pull the maf, whatever stupid shit you can think of.

NOTHING outsmarts a flatbed. I personally watched a repo company drive into someones yard, hook the car up, pull on bed, and drive off before I could call him to say his car was being jacked.

coolest thing we did to someones car was done out of pure boredom. setup a kill switch to insanely bright police issue strobe lights on the headliner right in front of the driver seat. unless you knew where the switch was, they would detonate if the car recieved power. We figured out it actually worked when someone stole the car right out of our shop. The strobes alerted a passing by police officer, and he only got halfway down the street before putting it into a pole. He tried running but was so disoriented from the flashes.

Indeed 240sx are so easy 2 open and turn on, some of my friends have told me. Even 1 of friends neighbor told me that and I didn't believe him he told me watch he got in my car and took out 1 of his keys and in less than 5 seconds turn on the car, I was wtf he's like yeah this cars are easy. That's when I had my s13.
My car got jacked in my garage and it seem they had the car key and just open the car and jacked the stereo and put the stereo in the backpack I had in there and just lock my door and walk out of the garage.
Oh and I didn't have no alarm or no security devices just my detachable steering wheel that I sleep with lol.

window tint, 2 way security system, quick lock streering wheel, hidden fuel pump kill switch, and even a battery kill switch that you have for relocated batterys.

you could go as far ditch the key, taking those wires out of the steering colomn and wiring a custom push button with switchs in it that a out of view, 1 or 2 of them.

and a garage it the biggest one.

Solex locks won't work on s chassis.

And you people are fools for telling what theft deter ants you have on your car.

If you noticed all the cars being stolen are cars that have NO security devices.

I will say this, when I park my car, I can guarantee that car won't be stolen; Glad I don't drive my car on the street anymore.

And no matter what, if people want items in your car, they will get them as long as you have glass windows. Don't be stupid and leave radio faceplates and other personal items in the car.

There are already other security threads. I'm not a fan of those nor this one.

I say lock.

Best choice for security, don't own a 240SX.

If you must have one, garage it and never drive it.

If you have to drive it, only pull it in/out of the garage when no one is even remotely nearby to see it. Don't let people follow you home and don't leave it unattended for more than thres econds.

Seriously, it's the idiot fucks like the thread starter who draw the interest for stealing 240s in the first place by discussing viewpoints on how secure they are. If a thief wants it there's really nothing you can do short of standing beside it nightly with a 9MM. Even then, you're going to jail for killing the poor ricer bastard.

Farzam
01-03-2007, 02:23 PM
I didn't know 240sx's even got stolen that much....

Either way, there is a minty white one in the neighborhood next to mine...so I doubt mine will get jacked, cause they'd run into that car if they took the most logical way to escape me.

My theft deterrant? 12 gauge in the garage...sign that says "If you can read this, you're in range", more security stuff than engine mods, and full coverage.

Steal my shit. I'll just buy another one. Steal that too. I'll just get another...and then eventually i'll be rolling in a Lexus from all the insurance money.

cxlo8331
01-03-2007, 02:44 PM
Seriously, alarm + quick release + lock + fuel cut off.
Then park it in the garage and chain the garage door shut.
Then park another car in the drive way to block in your car.

Dammit... Sounds like a lot of work...

I like the starving panther idea better.

Dont even need a flat bed, Ive seen guys pull up in a van with the tow lift mounted inside the van and just put the straps around the front tires and lift... GONE TOWED AWAY WITH THE ALARM GOING OFF AND LIGHTS STILL FLASHING!!

Bottom line, if they want it, they will get it.

Now that was more like it, all other members are just playing as they know how to steal cars and jump on the bandwagon to hate on the original poster or they actually know it and just greedy with information. There's nothing wrong about knowing the weak points and strengthening them. Ex-roomie and some friends were/are lojack and car alarm installers.
All car deterrents do is buy you more time and make a thief think twice wether your car is really worth the effort.
But time and time again the majority of the thefts reported are from careless owners with little to no security.

don't post your car on the internet. especially on local forums. b/c it is really easy to get your address. most people sell stuff on here. most people list there own house addresss as teh return.they use that return address and show up at your house.

1. Dont park in stupid places. Use common sense.
2. Get your locks recomboed.....
3. Setup up a kill switch, and an alternate way of starting your car, for example, you put the key in, turn it to the "On" position, and then to start your car, you would need to do something else, like turn your radio on, or activate your windshield wipers, then you would be able to turn your key some more to activate the start switch. If you had normally try to turn your key to start, without activating one of the variables, then your alarm would sound off, or whatever( use your imagination).

4. Change all your badges to Toyota.
