Here you guys go this is the first full interior job I've done. I felt like making my S14 the gineapig. The light kinda makes the colors look funny in my opinion but its black on black with cloth mesh inserts kinda like the Sentra SE-R material. I matched the quarter-panels with the door panel inserts because i didnt like how plain it looked in the backseat area.i also did the package tray and center console armrest to match. hope guys like it and if not please let me know:)

Wonder if you can work on the actual bolsters of the seats though? Like, add padding around the waist and thigh area on the S14 seats so it'll hug you better?

yes you can. as a matter of fact thats what i wanted todo but i ran of time, what you would do is ad closed cell foam to your excisting bolsters and shave down to how you want it to look and then add anywhere from 1/2-1" foam so you can keep it comfy becuase closed cell foam is hard like surfboard foam almost. i just added some 1/2" foam to all my seating surfaces to make it look more full and plush + extra comfort:bigok:

i dont really wanna say how much it costs me lol... so ill just say at a normal price it would cost about 500 for all the material... im not to sure how much it would cost outside of school, so thats just kind of a guess.

that looks very nice! Did you have to learn to stitch fabrics that are in weird shapes, or was it pretty easy?
SoSideways
01-02-2007, 02:03 PM
So would you be able to make it knarly like some of the Bride buckets if you just added the closed cell foam to the side and thigh bolster area?
Or would you not be able to add that much bolstering?
Only reason why I even ask is because if it isn't too too hard to do, might be a good alternative for S14 seat owners to go with, since it's the easiest seats to bolt into the chassis aside from the stock S13 seats, and sit pretty dang low already.
J.Silvia
01-02-2007, 02:05 PM
it was all farely easy but there was alot of learing and good amount of stress and whole lot of F**** i gotta start over lol, especially when i first started the backrest for the front seats. also i would not advise using a sewing machine a finger nail clipper....:loco:

[QUOTE=SoSideways]So would you be able to make it knarly like some of the Bride buckets if you just added the closed cell foam to the side and thigh bolster area?QUOTE]
to be honest im not to sure but almost anything is possible with upholstery, but it starts getting exspensive with lots foam building and with radical bolsters you may have to start using fiberglass as supports. at that point id just recomend buying some new or used recaros or sparcos, etc to get them redone since most of the aftermarket seats out there charge you a shit load of $$$$ and give shitty material :-/
Did you take upholstering classes?
What does under the center console lid look like?
I've tried to do my door panels, the best I could do was tuck and glue. Is that what you did? The factory vacuum seals them, but yours look very good how did you tuck the fabric.
Was all your learning from teachers? Or did you read on how to upholster and such?
You can PM me if you want, I'm extremely interested in your answers.
Thanks a lot bud

01-02-2007, 02:23 PM
pm sent. yes all my learning was from the teachers they both have done great interiors on cars and seats for motorcycles. i knew jack about upholstery before this class. one of the instructors vince has done interiors for chip foose and the other instructor Tony did the interior on his $120,000 32' ford roadster.

01-02-2007, 02:25 PM
Oh and as far me doing this for any one on here you guys would have to hook it up with the sewing machine cause i did this at wyotech and im working on getting some sewing equipment. me and a few friends did a 48' mercury for a guy that has alstimers <-------dont know correct spelling. that car will be at the sacremento autorama and will be featured in rod & custom magazine around april or so. we did a custom headliner with pleats on it and an insignia of RR that stands for Rons Ride that matches the insignia on his firewall. we also did the carpet and put that same insigna in his heel-plate.

great job, you may want to get some equipment and open a shop.. start from ur pad if this allows you to do so, hopefully after move in someplace.. thats looks very nice and factory.. most of all our cars have shitty interiors.. panels are usually ok if an owner before cared even a bit and didnt open the doors with his feet.. but seats take a toll anyway you look at it just from time alone.. so i'm sure you would be able to get some biz from here.. pricing not sure how much guys on here would pay.. but then again nice shit cost a pretty penny

to make the interior perfect (IMO) get a ACC molded blakc carpet and do the head liner black also ;) i did that on my s13 fastback..made the interior a little bit more barable
J.Silvia
01-03-2007, 08:52 AM
ya i was going todo my carpet but i ran outta time. no the glue i used on the panels was called landau<------spell check lol glue that was in a glue pot (pressurized pot of glue that is hooked to and airline) once its on it dont wanna come off.

Yeah i was planning on doing my door panels on my s13 and my glove compartment. The carpet looks makes the interior nasty. Can you send me a PM too, i would really apperiate it.
J.Silvia
01-03-2007, 10:16 PM
here it is for all those who wanted to know how do the door and quarter panels im to lazy to keep writing the same pm over and over :)
The inserts on the door panels and quarter panels was pretty simple, glue and tuck. you just make sure you clean the area really well and take a really fine sand paper to the surface so the glue holds better and to get all the yellow foam off so its alittle bit easier to put the material into the valley. i used like a sort of putty knife to push the material into the valleys and then trimed it with a very sharp razor blade so you dont have to push to hard or you can accidently cut into the base material. i would also suggest not putting foam behind your new material because it makes it harder to pack the material in to the valley. thats all i can say cause i cant give away all my secrets for free:coolugh:

o ya i almost forgot as far as glue i would use landau <-------- not sure if spelled correctly glue but im not sure if you can buy it in a can. our glue was in a glue pot (glue in a pressurized pot hooked up to airline that is used witha spray gun like paint gun).

Great job, looks factory and professional.
I spent hours on my last s13 swapping in factory s14 leather seats (F&R). Fronts bolt in of course but I had to fit the rear covers over my s13 cushions = different shapes/sizes. Came out about 85%, but not quite up to my standards.
Personal choice would have been some sort of ultrasuede inserts vs the SER type, but it all came together well.
Ready to send my GTR seats for the works ;)

____What I mean't was simply, @round the time you began this tread displaying your interior job, I was moving through my interior transformation with Suede (Green, . .. .so soft material in specific locations). .. .
Then here you are with the bulletin up as if I spoke to you about it!
It was just a trip for me to see it publicized at the time I am working on my stuff.
___'cause before-hand , I never really caught anyone pushing their interior works around the forum except of what type, style, and color stiched Nardi you've got on what type of Dj Qwik release hub system
(yeah, that was clever,lol)
anyhow, I'm with the expansion of interior development with the car of choice, personal choice. .. .yeah, I dig that.
GOOD SHIT DUKE!
I'll shoot mine soon enough, stay tuned!
