300zx rear shocks

today i had my 300zx and my 180sx sitting side by side with the rear wheels off and it looks like the rear shocks from the 300 are about the same size as the 180. if i were to switch the rear uprights would i be able to run the stock-type 300zx shocks on the 180? has anyone done this before? i was thinking about just running them untill i got new suspension.

The shocks are a direct swap when using matching uprights.
