i recently got into a minor bumper-bender and the bumper got torn out..
the thing is, when it was getting torn out, it sheered off the top rad support where the headlight brackets mount to.
how can i replace the rad support thing boxed in green?
the metal in red circle is torn off.. i was thinking about welding a piece of fender that got fukkarded in the process...

ugh omg do not weld scrap junk metal onto your rad. support
cut the support out and weld a non fucked one in.
seriously its not hard
1. remove everything that is attatched to it
2. drill out spot welds
3. test fit and measure for new rad. support
4. apply weld through primer to ALL areas that are ground down/cut/welded
5. plug weld or use STRSW if u have access
6. corrosion protection, paint, put it together.

i cant replace just the top part by itself?
i dont want to remove the entire rad. core support..
just the top metal portion.
the junkyard has a CLEAN un-scathed support.. so i was wondering!
lmk!

You can swap it in. Just be careful when you cut it out!!! I had to do this on my old RX-7 after I got into an accident, mine was completely messed up.
When you cut it out of the scrap car, cut out some of the other metal that surrounds around the piece, that way the entire part is there. Once you cut it out, it will be extremely flexible, so be careful not to bend it!!
I got mine from a junkyard car, and once I got it put in I just painted that part of the bay

i would just replace the rad support. it's not that bad. you need one free day, a drill and a spot welder. it doesn't take long at all. a buddy to hold it while you weld it is very helpful.

you dont need a torch. thats for sure.
dremel with cut off attatchment
sawzall
angle grinder w/ cut off disc
tin snips
teeth
as far as holding it in place while you weld use clamps, tack welds, or these nifty little guys http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/driftgay/cleekos.jpg
cleekos (sp?) they hold the panel in place all you need is a 1/4" hole.

Hey sorry it took so long to get back to this. I do have pictures, of what mine looked like, although Im not sure if I have any of it after I cut it out of the junkcar.
Heres some pics of the damage to show that it is replaceable though...

Heres the piece with the parts off...

I dont have time to draw any lines thru it, but when you cut the part out, take off the fenders that you can cut thru part of the front top frame to ensure that you get every bit of that rad support off. If you dont you will be stuck with getting another one or welding the old and new together somehow.
Just cut out parts of the fenders as well, and you should be fine. lll see if my friend has any pics of the part when they cut it out. They only cut out one side of the rad support from the frame when we did it, so it looked like a hockey puck kinda.

well..
actually i looked into it today and it seemed like that piece was bent to a "wavy" form.. lol
i still need to get this but it seems like this piece is keeping my front end from being aligned correctly.
