dude, first of all its obvious that u didnt search because first of all u can use the stock cluster, and secondly it is the same cluster, like wiring wise, so it just plugs in, 10 seconds of searching would have told you that

Making the tach work
If you start with an '89 or '90 240SX, the tach won't work when you install the SR20DET. The reason is simple: The 1991-and-later cars, including all the SR20-powered Japanese cars, used a lower voltage tach signal. The early tach doesn't even notice the later signal. The solution is even simpler: use a later tach.
That sounds like a pain until you try it. Pull the instrument cluster out and pop all the plastic clips holding it together until you have all the gauges swinging in the breeze. Now, the tach is held to the cluster with three screws. These screws also double as the signal inputs, so there are no wires to unplug. Just unscrew the old tach and screw in the new one. We used the tach from our front clip, which had side-by-side speedo and tach, and put it in our earlier, center-mounted cluster. The tach is a hair larger, so we had to trim one corner of it with a pair of scissors. That was it. It worked.

yea like matt98 said.
i'll reiterate the only thing that doesnt work with the swap is the sohc cluster. you can use your stock one if its the cluster for the ka24det (dohc one) and it is a basically unplug the old one and replug the relacement. Use the Search button because when I was newb i used it and found out that i didnt need a jdm one but a kade one.

dang
this is SR swawp 101, if you have an SOHC car you need the DOHC tach and it screws in with 3 screws in the back of the cluster, if you have a DOHC car to begin with the cluster is a direct swap, jsut plug it in.
search first, there s probalyl 10 milion threads jsut like this one

and you wasted more time waiting for an answer than it would have taken to search. searching takes a total of about 5 mins to find an answer. posting the same damn post about the same damn over-done swap pisses people off and makes you look like an ass. dont flip out when someone tells you to search.
*edit* you posted at 12:39 and got an answer at 3pm.... looks like searching would have gotten the answer faster.

ya no shit
im not usualy the person whos post saying search
but questions like that are some of the easiset things to find jsut by searching, probalyl take only 2 minutes to find the exact answer your looking for.
AND then you freak out cause i said search, which for a questuin like that, you should have

yeah i said i searched after he told me to search because he said it would take two seconds to get what i was looking for.. i took a look around and didn't find that answer i wanted..
but we tried swapping the tachs and it didnt work, we get no voltage change or anything from the tach, that thing just wont move.. maybe i have a sohc cluster im not sure..but ill talk to the guy who had the car before me and ill ask and then if i do have a sohc.. i need a dohc cluster.. is that correct? then i can just put the jdm tach in to the dohc cluster..is that right

you can use the jdm tach in the sohc cluster. if that doesnt work you have a wiring problem. you cant measure the voltage that way, the tach signal is AC power, and you're most likely measuring it in DC. make sure you wired the dash harness plug properly. yellow/red is the tach signal.
