it keeps leaking from the back to where it bolts on to the brake booster and in the front and i bought a reman one from orileys instead of a brand new one cause thats to much money for me at the time. my old one did that and my new one does it too. is there any way to fix this or is this a really common problem. it leaked down all the way to my frame rail to where it f'ed up my paint. the fluid level keeps going down.

thanks, brent

Some reman'd BMCs weren't remanufactured properly and will be just as crappy as your old broken one.

If it's still under warranty return it, and see if it's still a problem. If it is, try tightening it down some more and make sure all the brake lines are connected properly.

Sure it's not you brake booster?
Odd for two units to be doing the same thing. Pics?

Check your reseviour cap. the rubber gasket in the cap will become stretched over time and leak all down the front, back, sides, leaving you to think it's the M/C

on a side note: did you lube up the M/C connection when you put the new one on? Just stick some bearing grease in the hole. Also double check your brake line for looseness.

i checked all my brake lines and the resivor, and those are good. i did not put lub on that one connection. would that help prevent it from leaking? ive tighten as much as i could.
ill have pics up tomorrow.

thanks for the help, brent

hmmm.....

well since you say it's leaking in the front, there's really no where for it to leak from. It's either going to be the brake lines, cap, resevoir seals, or the rear seal. And fluid leaks with gravity....the resevoir tank itself is always clean?

And no matter how tight you make it, it really shouldn't matter. It's either a good seal or it's not.

Also if I remember correctly there's a gasket that goes between the BMC and the booster. check to see if its there. My last option is the tank seals. Those could not be seated properly.

here are the pics, sorry for the delay,
the pic with the brakebooster you cant really see, but there is a small stream of liquid running down it. every time i wipe it with a rag it keeps coming back. then as you can see over time how it messed my paint up. alot of that came from my original bmc. my fluid level went back down again, about a half a inch from max.im thinking of just going ahead and up grading to the 300zx bmc.
should i get the brakebooster to or just keep mine?

good pics.

Yeah it's definitely a defective BMC. If it has a warranty then take it back. If not, just upgrade to a 300zx BMC. There is some minor modifications required to make it fit an S14, mainly bending brake lines.

thanks,
im gonna go ahead and go with the 300zx, this is on a s13 car by the way.
i figured out why my brake fluid keeps going down. today i took off my wheels to get a closer look, and what i found out is that the back passenger side brake piston is leaking on me. i mean it is leaking alot. so im just gonna to go to the junk yard tomorrow and grab another one. im not sure why its leaking. maybe has something to do with the rubber seal going around it or somthing.

thanks, brent

i have seen some aftermarket 300zx bmcs and they are all the same as the 240sx. would this be a good upgrade? http://www.overnightautoparts.com/storefront/buy.php?make_text=nissan&model_text=300zx&ml=300-zxt-002&year=1995&part_name=brake_master_cylinder&brand_name=raybestos&make_code=NI it shows the same thing for a 1990 240sx sohc. and a 95 300z4 turbo. but the 240sx one is like 20 bucks cheeper. i want a new one will this work also?

Don't go by the pictures on most of the online catalogs....they're usually inaccurate.

Try to find a 1" to 17/16" BMC off a 300zx. Staright plug and play for s13. Well except the middle fitting needs to be modified. Reads this link for the how to...

Great website.

And for disepyo, your caliper is leaking??? Its definitely the piston seals. Just get a caliper rebuild kit for it. They're cheap and it's a good way to learn how to work on your brakes.
