well i searched and couldn't find the answer i wanted but here goes my motors going in this week and i want to know what the bosst will be at it will have a intake, fmic, exhaust, possible downpipe, fuel pump, fuel filter, and i think tahts it i was told around 10psi but that seems kinda high to me

uhh it will be at stock boost until you get either a manual boost controller or an electronic boost controller. 10psi is not high

what motor are we even talking about here? on an sr with boltons i hit 7lbs stock. with a turbo manifold it his a solid 9 lbs and that was a noticeable difference. slap a o2 outlet and a bs and crank it up to 12 and its a night and day difference.

it's a sr20det red top i was just wondering if the boost would be at stock

7lbs on stock turbo manifold. 9 on aftermarket. this of course is with no bc in non spiking weather.

Gees this is the blind leading the blind...:keke:

Unless you have a boost controller like kouki said up top, your boost should not change unless it's spiking. Wastegates control turbo output and if you don't know that you should sell your car immediately to someone who does.

all this is uncalled for i asked a simple question and i get smartass remarks i just got into turbo steups i don't know everything thats why im asking questions so i f you cant be nice stay otta my thread or ill report you

Whats funny is that some of you are calling people stupid because you claim you need a boost controller for the boost pressure to change. If you do a full 3'' exhaust and do not have the stock boost solenoid hooked up your manifold pressure WILL RISE. The turbo has less restriction on it so the same amount of work the motor was doing before to make it reach 7psi is now allowing it to reach to 10psi or so. When I had an sr it was making around 9-10 pounds depending on the gear

uhh yeah ghetto poor people way. i dont encourage people to do that so I told him the right way. who called anyone stupid?

In a perfect world, you should only control boost with a wastegate, that's why it's there. I never said it shouldn't change, I said it would change but it's called spiking. Oh and I never called anyone stupid.;)

thanks for all the help but the remark about me selling my car cause i didn't know the answer to my own question kinda pissed me off

When I added an s15 smic, greddy turbo elbow and 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust to my otherwise stock sr20 boost went from a steady .5 bar to a steady .75 bar without a boost controller.

Here's a good site to research turbo systems, learn how they work, etc.

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/tech_center/faqs.html

And there is also a tech section in the menu on the left that explains a shit load of things.

So go cry about it somewhere else. If you don't know the answer to a question, research it, don't come on here asking pointless shit about completely basic mechanical knowledge. And trust me, reporting anyone is only going to get more people laughing at your dumbass.

if your wastegate and actuator is functioning correctly it will open... and limit at 7psi... i have a simular setup and i never see the psi go above 7... unless i plug my boost controller back in... :tweak:'

w00t i understand what your saying, but unless you have a fish valve, boost controller, or a vacuum leak in the actuator line... your wastegate will behave the same.

What about exhaust velocity?
I still stand by my statement. All of my components were hooked up correctly.

Your boost will change even if you just change your intake to a less restrictive one. Around 10 psi, no more than 12. Which isnt high relatively.

I see this forum going downhill every day! But wootwoot pretty much nailed it. Personal experience/knowledge is better than book knowledge from time to time.

I never said it shouldn't change, I said it would change but it's called spiking.

well, since we're being condescending, its not spiking since it never returns to 7lbs, its probably closer to creep.

just FYI for next time, junior. :bigok:

I don't see why this forum would go downhill every day...??? I think it's noob people that are not contributing to the forum community. Alot of you guys don't use the search button and read to gain more knowledge to make the right decision. Instead i see them make rediculous threads of questions that has been covered on this forum many times.

We have a lot of great people on this forum that are contributing great stuff on Zilvia. So grow up and stop whining like a lil bitch, because no one give a damn on here.

Forum going downhill = some and the same members flame on newbies, not everyone is computer literate and the mods are here to help and point them in the right direction(give them a link). Waste of bandwidth to have like 10 different people say search and start flaming. If you don't have anything nice to say or relat to the post then don't at all. Flamers are usually bored and lazy themselves to even answer the questions asked and type one simple word, "search".

So you grow up and be mature and quit bitching about how there's great people on this forum. In this topic alone there's like 8 guys if not more that is talking crap with useless info. If you call useless flamers great people then this forum is definitely going downhill and the mods and admins should be doing something about it. If there weren't newbies, there would be no forums period.
