Hopefully next summer i will be getting a body kit and repainting my car, so i am gathering tools and materials now. I am looking at air compressors and having trouble deciding what I need. Main use will be Spray guns and other automotive related tools, but from what i've read Spray guns require the most of the compressor. Just hoping to get opinions on what compressors people have?

I had a big ass compressor (I think 45 gallons) ure going to need a DA, spray guns u need 3, one for primer, one for base, one for clear, sanding blocks 3" 6" and an 18" no bondo or body filler use "kitty hair" it doesn't crack and its allot stronger. 150, 400, 600, and 1000 grit sandpaper. masking tape, masking paper, news paper, water, latex gloves, a mask, 220V power supply, thats all ican think of off the top of my head. there is more :loco:

^^^i think you got it all except 2000grit and a rubbing compund for finishing touches. anyone every try using an electric spray gun? wonder if they work alright compared to one with a compressor.

When selecting a compressor for painting you need to first by your spray guns. Then they will give you a CFM rating. Find the spray gun you bought with the highest CFM rating. That is the minimum CFM rating you need. CFM rating is the MOST important spec to look at when selecting a compressor (because there are some compressors that have a huge capacity, but cannot meet the CFM rating required).

you also need paint ;) haha j/k, but seriously if you want to do it right you have to mix the paint well too, but the most important step is prep. you need to be very throrough with your body and prep work and make sure you practice on something to get the spray pattern and distance right bro
