Hey guys,
Ive searched but havent found anything (and yes im usless at searching)
Im looking at 17X8 +25's on the front and 17X9 +35's for the rear,
I presume this will look semi even on a S14?
I am currently running 225's on the stock SE rims with zero traction with my RB threw to the top of 3rd,
This going on a 100% street car, what would be the largest tire size apropriate for those size rear rims without rubbing on anything, I run KYB's with tein s-tech springs due to south africa's poor road conditions.
I know this is a newb question :loco: but I would really appreciate your guys help, maybe even a pic or two of S14's with these rims.
thanks

If you have a 5 lug s14 get some 17x9+15 all around with front 235/40 and rear 245/40. Thats perfect for pretty good traction and it will be pretty flush. If your four lug Spl parts sell FN's in 17x9+20.

yes its a euro spec S14B, so i have 5 lug hubs.
I was hopping to get somthing closer to a 265 rear, im making quite a bit of power.
I know when we put evo8 rims on our S14's (like the drift vid i posted a few weeks ago) they come mega close to the front shock's will 9" fronts with +15 not come to close?

I don't think it will hit the shocks. If your looking for 265's I would get the 17x10+25 or +12 with 265/35
Heres a picture with 17x9+15 and 17x10+25 or +12 not sure.

wow looks like it sits nice an close to the fenders, i must be careful because i can not run any crazy camber or anything, granted im running 450whp its still my every day car to work and back.
Any idea whos car that is?

His user name is Team Rootbeer. You might have to roll fenders and I would run like 1.5 degrees of camber in the front and 1 or 1.5 degrees in the back if you don't want alot of camber. Theres more pics of his car in the LOW DOWN thread with different wheels. I think the wheels he has on the car now are 17x9+0 all around.

lol, baller, not me,
Im just tired of wheel spinning down the 1/4 mile, went out on thursday night to the local track and wheel spun to near the end of 3rd before it started to hook up with sticky 225/50/16 Yokohama AVS's
Im hoping a set of 265 odd 17" tires will help that a bit considering in my class i have to run regular street tires.

at least get 17x9 +15 17x10 +25. how the hell would you even drive a 400+hp car with 9 inch rear wheels anyway.

I'm running 275's and 235's on my fn 17x8 and 17x9...and they don't stick out past the body...www.cardomain.com/id/lilrig...with the same offsets you have.

Hey Britt, that combo looks damm good, You say thats a 17X8+15 and 17X9+25?
Rb is mostly bolt on's, methanol injecton, GT3040 .86ar, nismo pumps, good intercooler and exhaust system, shitty managment which is about to get changed to AEM ectr.

275 is almost square on the 9j.
Most of the American muscle car guys run 275s on their 9j's as that's what comes stock on cars that are equipped with 9" wide wheels, like the WS6 Trans Am.

275 on a 9 is prefect.

maybe if the tires were labeled incorrectly and it was actually a 255, yeah.

here is a s14.5 with 17x8 +35 front, and 17x9 +35 rear.

honestly these wheels fit better on my s13, i would have put 17x9+20's on the front and 17x10's rear.

and if you want to feel real bad, it got the s15 nose because the original 97 nose was fucked in a previous accident.

you could... go r-compound, a set a good 225 r-compounds would beat out a set of 275 street tires easy.. =P plus the extra side wall would help you with those nasty bumps on the road =P

wow... lots of opinion with not enough real advice here.
If your running the car drag, especially with 450whp, you shouldn't listen to 99% of what anyone on this board will tell you.
I used to run FN's in the sizes and offsets that you just mentioned with 255/40/17 rear and 225/45/17 front. Those tire sizes are as close to stock sizes as you will get, so figure that they will look close to the same as your car running the correct tire size of 205/55/16.
My suggest is this: If your running stock rear fenders, get the FN 17x9" +43offset and run 275/40/17 tires, align for 0 camber and 0 toe in the rear. With the shock and spring combo you have the car should squat pretty good, so you'll have that to your advantage. What class are you running in? They don't allow drag radials?
If your going to drag, do it right and don't worry about fender flushness. My 275whp s14 runs on Tein Flex and with enough camber to fit my 10" wide wheels in the rear with +25 offset with 265 wide tires, I obliterate the tires in no time. The wheel hop is redicules too, and Flex's are softer than most coilovers. I'm either going to go spring/shock or get HKS drag coilovers next.
I'm planning on moving to a similar setup to what I'm suggesting to you, since the car is only going to be drag raced. No more drifting for me.

Well my car is a street car, It is an every day to work and back 80 miles a day.
I only drag it at events, and obviously with 225's on the stock rims in doing a 400meter wheel spin and on the street it gets rather silly, i figured the 10" rears with some good 265's giving me 80mm more rubber contact would help a little, obviously ill need to run a little camber in the rear to keep it street friendly, i realy couldnt bother about fender flushness, I just want it to look semi decent while giving me the ability to run good size 17" tires,
16" 205, 215 and 225 tires here are $300 ea while 245 thew 275 17" tires are half that price, thats another big reason im going 17".

ok you're going to need more than one set of rear wheels/tires.

if you dont mind me asking, what did you do to that intake manifold. Looks like you modified the stock one. Isn't the #6 cylinder starved a bit for air?

01-02-2007, 12:25 PM
My advice if you drive it that much is to get 6 wheels. 17x8 +25 fronts, 17x9 +35 rears for daily driving, and 17x9 +43 for drag. That's the good part of FN's being so inexpensive.

you could... go r-compound, a set a good 225 r-compounds would beat out a set of 275 street tires easy.. =P plus the extra side wall would help you with those nasty bumps on the road =P
He doesn't want r-compounds for that kind of power, they're too stiff - he'd be breaking traction everywhere and having a decent amount of wheelhop.

http://www.rezlo.com/Pages/Toys/Silvia/Vid/Movie5.wmv Right click and save 3mb, that was at .6bar, mine is obviously the white one. regular pull away in 1st and gave it some go in 2nd.
Intake manifold is a temp till i fit the greddy when i build the new motor, at 1.6bar the EGT's on every cyl are well within safe limits. Ive seen guys in ausi used a manifold like this for some serious power, non of them have had problems running lean on no:6. Either way its going to get turffed with the new motor.
