View Full Version : What wheel offset shouold I use???

Britt

For the rear wheel I'm getting a 17x10 with a 315 drag tire
for the front wheel is going to be a 17x9 with a 255 or 265

Anybody know what offset should be used so i'm not hitting my brakes or suspension?

UUUUGGGHHHHH

negatron on those tires sizes.

dont worry about the rim hitting anything worry about the damn tires hitting everything.

if you really want nasty drag spec tires then i guess you'll need like +40

Sounds like its gonna look like shit.

17x10 +30ish with 0 Camber should fit a 315 on the inside.
17x9+10ish Should clear a 255/40 on the front.

outside clearance will be easy to clear with ride height or arch flares.

#1 are u running struts/springs or coilovers?, if your running coilovers you will have less clearence on the inside of the wheels so the lowest offset u can go on a 9 would be +15, on the other hand if you are running springs and struts you could run up to +35 offset on a 9 and have no interference with the sturt. rear won't be a problem either way. Why run such wide tires though? there is no point unless you are racing roadcourse, i would run 235/40/17 on the front and like 255 or 245/40/17 on the rear. what wheels are u planning on buying. BTW if you get FN's your probably gonna get flammed LOL

To the people flaming my post...:mrmeph:
All my pics are on www.cardomain.com/id/lilrig
I have on the car right now tein superdrift coilovers
s15 20mm over conversion fender
The rear fenders are being custom made using part of the exsisting metal on the car and reworking it, and adding more sheet metal so the tires don't stick out past the body.
The new wheels are going to be the gramlight 57pro's with the titanium coating on the lip....or the super advans in black.
The motor is going to be an rb stroked out to a 2.8...with a custom manifold and a gt42 turbo with the new tial housing on it...and so on and so on...

That is why i'm putting 315's in the back
if anyone else feels like flaming....go do this instead...:wackit:

so your going to dragrace with the superdrift coilovers? I know my car doesnt launch so good with 9/7 springs and iirc the super drifts are like 10/8 or 12/10 ??? - and i make a few hundred hp less than you are gonna make. Maybe you wanna look into the Drag setup from HKS??

back on topic of wheels - my +20 17x9's are pretty close to the coilovers. so with a big mofo tire i assume i'd need a 5mm spacer. (235/40/17) i have no idea in back because i run 235's ;)

Britt
12-23-2006, 08:09 PM
lol...ya, i started going in one direction with the car when i bought those coilovers....now i'm going the other way....Prob sell them off shortly....have to wait and see how they feel when i start driving it again.

hahahahahaha.

I fucking love how everyone flames larger tires.....OMG!!! If you're not running a 215 on a 10 wide rim, your gay!!!!!

On a serious note, how set are you on those sizes? I believe bigger is better, BUT if you're going balls out drag, why not a narrower tire in front.

If you want any type of handling, why not cut down some on the stagger of the tires? You can fit more than a 255 front w/ a 20 over fender, as a 255/35/18 fits on stock, rolled fenders.

Hehe...I agree.

"What's the point of having a stretched tire" is always met with "it's for drift"..."it has a purpose"..."for the response"...etc, etc...and that's debatable.

Having a big, wide 315 on a proper sized wheel is correct, for lots of traction. Can't argue that.

215's on a 9" is cool on Zilvia, nowhere else.

Oh, I wasn't flaming the tire size. I was flaming the "don't worry about the fenders"

Noob + Cardomain + Asking what wheel fitment + Custom Fender work

Bound to be gayer than aids.

oh, also that its 90% certain that they'll be FN01RCs.

255/45/18 used tires aren't "real tires" hahahahah.

at least there are more than 4 people on here that realize they're 240SX is gonna be slow and stupid no matter what tire size they put on it.

also, lol at me shitting on his face but being the only person in the thread to give any useful info.

We had bad luck running 17's for drag.

You also are probably going to want to steer clear of x10's for drag.

We ran low 11's on M/T 235's on a 15x7.5 with VLSD, 1.7 avg 60's. Removed rear sway, blown rear shocks, and new eibach sportlines. Putting down about 380ish w/62-1.

Lukes car: Tein Super drifts, slammed to hell, running same tire setup, steve drove it to a 2.0 60ft, just broke a 12.98. SR HKS gt 2530, haltech, open diff (ROFL). Came off the line on the two step at that.

My 1st vote is to ditch the super drifts, unless you have some multi use for the car w/drag slicks. I also dont think you are in suck desperate need for 315's, esp w/such short sidewalls of the 17's you are not really going to "hook".

But heh, nice project, hate the fno1rc's

So, you're so much more mature than everyone else, simply because you're 26 and been wrenching on cars since 15. I guess that gives you a special pass to call people fags and whatever else you want to call them, and not be a member of the group you're trying to present yourself to be better than?
If you know so much about everything, why do you even need to question offset/fitment. I mean, reading through the thread, you're apparently the greatest thing your mother ever shat out, and you refuse to stoop to the level of calling names.
Isn't that ironic?

Britt
12-25-2006, 09:51 AM
Well if i had people leaving useful information instead of just mostly flaming the post, wouldn't have called anyone names. Since i have more useless posts on here than useful ones, including the first one in this thread....wonder why i said fags....no offense since I actually love the cock...it was just the first thing i typed out after having a few drinks....thank you to the few who actually posted some info to help....I just have one chance to get these wheels in the right offset before autorama in march...was wondering if anyone had done this before so i didn't have to measure it myself....so much for being lazy and just asking instead of doing it myself. Never said i was mature, my actions proved just how much a baby i can be when butt-hurt....just been working on cars a while.

P.S. phlip...the best part of me ran down my mother's leg and onto the back seat of the subaru justy....good use of the quote button btw.

There's a wheel fitment thread easily found by searching.

If you're totally useless at wheel sizing, use google.

Maybe you should have spend less time "working on cars" and a little more learning and growing the fuckin up.

Sorry to thread jack- But MCRUSSEL

FIRST- the sizes were 255/45 rear and 245/45 front. Wheels fit when many said they wouldn't, and the car handled well. They also got me rolling untill i could find a better setup. Matter a fact, even used the front in a track/drift event with minimal rubbing.

NEW SIZES are 275/35/18 rear and 255/35/18 front. Flame away prick. While you may be able to fit some extremely retarded(i mean huge) rims, it is utterly pointless when you run a 225 tire on it. This FAD is the newest form a rice. Just as with a huge honda wing, huge rims and tiny tires serve no purpose other than looks. I'm sure i'll get flamed to hell, but so be it...JMO
