ok...i've had a s14 w/ a s14 sr20, a s13 w/ a s13 sr0
now, i'm pickin up a 96 s14 again(1200 bucks STEAL)...and i want to do something different and leave it close to factory so i dont have problems. car is gettin full coilovers, kaaz 2 way, and the s15 swap, couple ?'s..i've searched
what is up with the speedo, alot of posts, no real help how do i get it to work
what stock do they put to the wheels, and what should i be looking for with a good fmic, dp/exhaust, pullies, and boosting at 15lbs????
will the 480cc(stock right?) work with that power setup??
what should i look for when buying the engine, and should i do a different headgasket, or will i be fine with the oem one if it is tuned properly(local dyno/perf shop)
last....what does the s15 tranny top out at? 160ish or higher? jw'n on that one, dont plan on bringing it that high lol
car is going to be a DD/ event drifter and dont want much more than 330whp
and where is the cheapest/best place for the engine, i've seen normally 3500 for the setup

You need the S15 diff as well for the swap. Use the entire S15 setup including the wiring for the dash other wise use back your instrument panel. Stock power ont he S15 enigne is 280HP, probably around 260HP and some more with addons. My six speed in fourth gear runs out the 180Km speedometer.

- 330 on the stock turbo is about right.
- I'd jump to 550 injectors to be on the safe side
- headgasket isn't required for that power level but do it (with headstuds) for peace of mind if you can afford it.
- you'll need the S15 diff to get the speedo to work. I would rather do an S13-S14 tranny set-up.
- you didn't search hard enough, this has been common knowledge since early 2000s.

Just use a s13/14 transmission, flywheel, clutch and not have to worry about the speedo/lsd issue. Who needs 6 gears anyways unless you're worried about your MPG. It'll be cheaper as well.

just use your current tranny and swap bell housing, no need to get the s15 lsd.

Isn't the 6spd less durable as well?
Just go with a 5spd.

the 6 speed would be fine for 330whp, its when its 450 or so that they start to let go, and i take care of my stuff very well also
i want to run the 6 speed for some better gearing and lower rpm's on the highway because i drive alot on the highway(3 hour trips back to my home town) and a helical lsd isnt to hard to find and then i wouldnt have to worry about a new lsd
thanks for the link

Also a good point, its hard as hell to get importers to take you seriously when you ask for S15 SR20.
I can't get anyone to get me compression/leakdown #s.

You want to be different? Put a SOHC turbo in there instead.

Dude, the 6 speed wont really help you with your MPG....its a close ratio 6 speed chief; top gear on that is about the same ratio as top gear on a 5 speed.
If you're worried about cruising RPM get a different final drive...
Also, IMO, the s15 motor isnt worth the money and trouble. who cares if its cool and not super common (although its getting pretty common these days), youre better off getting a s13 motor, go big injectors/ bigger turbo/ fmic/ exhaust and maintenance parts.
if you are dead set on the s15 motor, do you really want to get it from the cheapest place possible as you mentioned above? remember, you get what you pay for... i'd rather pay more at a reputable shop and know i'll get a good motor with all the parts than save $500 for a worn motor with no ecu, bad turbo, etc.
sorry if this is all stuff you know, just trying to be helpful

If your going to go S15 motor you might as well save yourself some money and get the S14 SR. The advantages of these engines is the torque they have compared to a redtop or blacktop S13sr. The torque is due to the VVT. The torque is very similar to the torque of a KA. Now that said , I will also say that the person that claimed a S15SR puts out 280hp is wrong. Its a 250HP engine rated at stock boost from the factory. Now if you put a boost controller on it you can get 280 but its not technically rated at that.
FWIW the S14 SR is only 25hp less and can be cranked up to the same amount of power. It is also cheaper to purchase and easier to wire and comes with the stronger 5 speed. Importers charge a premium for s15 clips.

yeah, i've been looking into those also...but idk, it would help alot to get better gas milage on the interstate, but who cares really, maybe i'll get a tornado lmao....hahahahha
but yeah, i just want a little over 300hp, all i'm looking for and it seems the s14 turbo can do that

did you miss the part about S15 trans being geared the same?
you can get an S14 motor and buy a 6speed from me, 800$ JDM ballerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

its not geared 100% the same, i would drop 1k rpm's on the highway

no, i have the s15 engine, trans, and diff and im at 70 with 2800.

just get some tall ass tires for driving on the street...they would prob. change your cruising rpm's more than going to the 6 speed and it would be much cheaper.
