Hey i was wondering if anyone else got any bad motor for neotechimports?
Because the last 5 motors i picked up were no good .. i picked up 4 rb20det fullswaps and 1 rb25det fullswap.. and the rb25det is fu*k i dont know what to say about that one.. 2 of the rb20 blew in a week after installing them.. 1 of then had a leaking headgasket and the last rb20 that i picked up was runing pretty nasty when i frist got it started iit and it had a spun bearing . so i compression tested it and not one of the cylinders were over 110... i never compression tested any of the motors i got from neotech..i will never make that mistake again
i have alot of friend that had there motors blew right after geting it from neotech.. i just wanted to know if anyone else had this happend or is it just bad luck??
just so you know all these engines where all stock with stock boost and taking it eazy for the frist 500 miles because the engine has been siting for awile and they still blew
i did a full rebuild on 2 of the rb20 fullswap that blew and they run awesome but when piston rings alone are 300 bucks and take 2 months to get here..i would reather get a good engine from the start
i know that engine is old but i see alot of people on the forums that had there stock rb20det/rb25 for years with no problems..
DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GET MY MOTORS FROM SOMEONE ELSE?? IF SO LET ME KNOW SOME PLACES IN SOCAL THAT SELLS GOOD ENGINES

ummm. this just might be me, but when im going to spend that much for an engine i'd do a compresson and leakdown test, and to answer ur question, yea u should get your motors from somewhere else, unless your retarted after 2 engines i woulda found a new engine dealer, come on, this shouldnt have happened if u had actually tested them, but i dont want to seem like im saying ur retarted or nething so please dont take it that way bro, its just kinda common sense to test shit b4 u buy it, especially when it comes to engines, but yea im sure there are tons of places in socal that have good reputations for selling quality engines. sorry to hear about ur bad experience tho. good luck

I picked all 5 motors up at once.. i didnt got back in get any after that happen..the thing about neotech is they wont let you compression test your engine before buying it.. and i read there policy and there not going to give me a new motor for low compression..but someone just sent me a pm and told me that neotech bring motors over with lower compression and if you see a A++ on the timing cover they say thats a really good engine witch means your compression is around 150 160.. but the rb20 that i tested had a a+ on it the timing cover and it was around 105 and all cylinders.. i just dont understand how they can fu*k people over like that=(

So what you're say is that after buying 5 engines from them and being unhappy with every single one, you're still debating giving someone else your business?
As far as Neotech is concerned, I have no personal experience.
A friend of mine once purchased a CA18 clip from them that was purportedly 'fully built /400+ HP' and he paid a premium for it. He inspected it at their shop before buying and when it was delivered, it was stripped of tons of gauges, electronics, a secondary injector system, etc. He tried to install it but when it was time to turn it over, the rod bearings were spun.

The larges problem is:
Neo Tech probably buys engines from the same place everyone else does.
The Auction.
No shop has anyway of knowing how many miles, what condition etc. Just the general look of what is in the container, then a couple bids.
So YES, always:
*Check Compression
*Check oil for smell (pancakes or gas, ass is no good)
*Oil for consitency
*Oil for metal flakes
*Check cam lobes for heavy wear, sure sign of bad oil pressure and possible bad bearings.
Im really sorry to hear about the bad luck, i cannot belive you have no recourse, they dont have a startup warranty?

throw the broken parts of the motor back through their windows and then part out the good parts.
good thing RB20s are cheap as balls.

Yo wtf. What jerks, seriously though; the second someone tells me that I cant do a compression check on the motor that im buying, i'd dip so hard out of there.

Just to Clarify that Jon at Neotech is a stand up man and delviers quality motors and service....Jon him self goes over to Japan and personally selects the motors he wants...his warrenty is good and I have not had a problem with his motors yet...A guy that works for me has purchised an RB20det and has not have any issues yet..about 50 miles are on this current motor..WE comp tested it and it was almost perfect...my only complaint was that I had a broken coolant temp sensro but no biggie..I do not sweat the small shit...No he does not get the engines from auction if u mean Ebay. Also I hope he warrentied the 5 u bought...Our comp was 158 on up...So far Jon has been cool with me and hope all the motors I buy are good.....Im just voicing my oppinion not to start drams but just putting this out there.

Sorry you got 5 junk motors :(. You should part them out. I need r32 xmember and PS pump bracket if you've got em.
Personally I'd find somewhere new to shop, especially if I was told I couldn't compression test a motor before buying it. That's shady as hell, thats like going to a used car dealership and being told you can't drive the car before you buy it

Well, if your friends have all had bad experiences with them, why would you go and drop that kind of cash for 5 motors, knowing they shafted your friends...

^~~ Dude, did you go to school? How about some punctuation marks.
I knew what you men't John.
Buying the engines on Ebay, come on man, use that noggin.
For the record, he does sell motors, vlsds and other stuff on Ebay. I came across a few of his auctions, all Posi feedback though.
As far as the question, I wouldnt have bought them in the first place. Being that I couldnt personally compression test them. But 5 motors, I would park the bitchs on his front porch and wait hands out for my refund. I would definately find a new shop for motors. I only know and have experience with one but its on the East Coast. G'luck with the matter. *a

I was GOING to lock this thread, but someone with the screen name NeoTechImports just registered, and I am willing to see what can POSSIBLY be the reason they offer to not allow someone who is buying 5 engines from them to fully inspect said engines. Yes, "fully" means a full compression test.
Also, are you SERIOUSLY considering buying ANOTHER engine from them after you had 5 purchased at one time crap out on you? You just don't believe shit stinks, do you?

Hello , my name is Jon Dwson (owner NeoTechImports)
This post is absolute B.S. , unless u own McKinney motorsports , and are named Mac McKinney. No one in Riverside has bought that much from here.
My proccess is simple , i go to Japan every 2-3 months , compression check myself (and my wife). If an RB20 does not hit 155+psi , or is unbalanced , it doesnt come over. Same for access oil leak , water or oil in cylinder etc As for A+ etc , B.S. , my engines either have an OK , or they stay in Japan. I'm very tough on what comes over the big bath tub(Pacific).
I find it hard to believe that someone has a bad engine (let alone 5) , and i heard nothing of it from you(LOL). I've been open 5 years , and would not have been if your statements were true. I beg you find another TRUE importer that has the knowledge or customer service that i provide. This hollow false nameless statement i'm sure can be backed by hundreds of the other side. I started my company , for the same reason you are trying to portrait it , because i was a swap shop who got a clip with your ecu etc and was told to buy the correct one not get the exchange.
It sad that i was alerted to this B.S thread by 3 long time customers (one being McKinney motorsports) , that scoff at what you wrote. So either you cane keep namelessly SLANDERING my business , or you could be a man (not likely) give a name and handle this , or admit to being a lyer.

Okay, so who is telling the truth here?
Allow us for a moment to assess the contestants:
1) The idiot who claims to have bought 5 bad engines from one importer, yet is still dumb enough to consider purchasing from him again?
2) The engine importer's apparent "friend," with an obvious ill-received grasp of the English language?
... or...
3) The importer himself who, while claiming to be an "on the up-and-up" business man, also has a poor grasp on the language, if only a little better than his friend.
... find out, next time on "As the Zilvia turns!"
WRONG, the two of you settle your grievances somewhere other than the fucking forum.
