--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey guys, i just bought an S14. its got a blacktop SR20 w/ T28. for EM, it has an Apexi SAFC-II and AVC-R. under 70% throttle it feels fine, but it feels like the car starts hopping when i go WOT. i also think i hear some popping in the exhaust. im assuming its running way rich.
any advice??
im going to get my AFRs and 3 dyno pulls (if not an hour or so of tuning)tomorrow afternoon. i'd really like to get this figured out. any imput is appretiated

also, this is my first turboed car, and it sounds like i have compressor surge. i hear a spinning hiss before the BOV opens. is that a normal sound or should i try and adjust the BOV?

Thanks,
Greg

Sounds like you're missing. My nose leads to Timing but it could be mixture too. You definitely need wideband to do any tuning. whether it be your own or a shops.

Have them check the timing at idle on the warm car and see where it's at.

Spinning hiss sounds OK. As long as it's not a Chuff, Chuff, Chuff almost like it's trying to blow off.

an avc r is just a boost controller - doesnt really manage anything else..

and an afc - will goof up timing - it actually sounds like u have a stock maf and its fuel cutting.

compressor surge while the bov is opening isnt gonna hurt nothin...

i dont even run a blowoff valve - and neither do many racecars and drift cars.

is it a s15 turbo on your motor? also - are you running stock injectors?

i got it all figured out. my sparkplugs were gapped to 0.30, now they're 0.25 and its all good :)

but it feels like i'm getting compressor surge right before the BOV opens. i'm gunna tighten up the part where the hose meets the BOV body, it seems loose. hopefully that helps. i might put a new hose on there
