vacuum question

I'm dropping a redtop in a 93 Nissan pickup and am having an issue with vacuum. With all of the vacuum lines connected the truck will turn over and fire but will not start. After which I get a crackling sound from the valve cover. If I disconnect this vacuum line:

the truck will idle for about 30 seconds and then die. It also dies immediately if I touch the gas.

that line runs to your pcv valve. start with replacing that. have you removed the valve cover to check the cams and such? a crackling noise from there is never good. hope this helps.

Everything under the valve cover looks mint. I'll try replacing the pcv valve. Thanks.

try to check the timing on the cas. to see if its lined up right.

The crackling sound was the PCV valve, but it was not the reason that the truck would not start. Like an idiot, I had the fuel lines reversed.
