View Full Version : Carnage! What a 150lb Deer @ 60mph does to a S14

Damage really isn't all that bad. Looks as if the rail on the drivers side wasn't touched. Going to just take my money and fix the car. I can live w/o paint for a while. I should be able to bolt everything on myself. The radiator was just an unlucky casuality due to the CAI. If it was a stock air intake the radiator wouldn't have been hurt at all. The cap just pushed against the sturdy Revo and cracked it good.

PM me if you have a Ruby Pearl Fender and/or Hood and/or Bumper! I would also consider black if these can be got to me w/o destroying me on shipping. Same goes for a Core support. If I can get a good core support any color that is NOT damaged to my door for less than $450. If not I'll get one brand new.

Well, I'm sure your car faired off better than the deer did.

thats what you get for doing the legal limit.... had you been going warp speed.. you would've actually vaporized the deer, and gone through the mist effortlessly lol.

Looks like there was damage in that area before you hit the deer. Rad support was already cracked and welded back together. The whole front end was painted over as well.

Actually I'm up in Western Kentucky. I hit the deer right up by KY Lake going to a friends house. I wasn't speeding because the area is known for deer, and cops. During the day I fly out in that area, but at night time I always slow it way down for those reasons. I had turned my highbeams off for oncomming traffic, and after they had passed I was getting ready to turn them back on, and all I saw was this huge buck. Wasn't time to hit the brakes or anything. He came across one lane, and I threw him back across the road where he was comming from.

Yea, the front end was jacked up previously, and the people who did the work were morons. The rad support wasn't cracked previously. It's actually another rad support put on there very poorly. They just cut the original and under welded (put the new one UNDER, instead of butting it) and painted it. And they welded it for shit too.

I may live in Kentucky, but I'm not a hunter at all. I normally carry a .40S&W with me in the car for defence, but it stays out of the car when I drive back and forth to work in Illinois (the don't honor my CCDW). When I hit the deer, I was comming from work going to a friends house. Otherwise I would have emptied the clip in the dead deer just for fun.

im pretty sceptical about you hitting a deer.... cause ive done lots of collision work for insurance with animal hits, and trust me there is always hair/fur on the car stuck somewhere! but in those pics i dont see any evidance

There is no fur because he thought it was a deer.

When in reality, it was a person. That's why there is no fur.

In all seriousness, it looks like the car was washed after the accident. He took out the rest of the broken headlight and what not.

You can tell he hit something heavy but somewhat soft by there being no real scratched to the paint. Only dents.

Ruby240

The car was washed the day of the accident. If you look you can see the hoofprint of the deer on my door. Oh, I got a deer. But not all deer splatter into a gushing Freddy movie. The headlight, literly there is nothing left of it. I didn't take any of it out except part of high beam ballast. It pretty much exploded into nothing. This is exactly how the car sat since the wreck, I didn't touch it at the body shop, and neither did the shop owner.

The impact, I hit the deer at the hips. Which is why the front part of his body pushed the hood up, and slung him around into my fender, then his foot tapping my door. There isn't always fur everywhere. If you look closely you can see some hairs around the headlight area in a few of the pictures. Plus, the car was on the back of a roll-back doing 65mph down the highway for 30 miles.

This accident was the monday night before Thanksgiving. We have also had some big rains since then as well. I left the deer. I don't want anything to do with it. I know people that have been attacked by deer after an accident (them thinking it was dead and going up to it).

No deer pictures because of the previous reason. I don't want a deer head anywhere in my house. I'm not a hunter. Also, most of the time when a deer dies from a car wreck, its from bad internal bleeding, which will ruin the meet unless immediatly feild dressed. And well I don't like blood and guts.

I hit a deer once in my mother's car, it was a small one, I hit it on the hip as well, so there was no damage to the car, just a little hair. The deer glanced off the median in the road, then came to a stop on the other side. I was planning to run home and grab my camera and pistol and just to finish it, since it was still moving, it seemed.

... then the Coca Cola van came over the hill, brakes squeal, nothing.
I circle the block to survey the damage and, just as sure, there is a 9-foot crimson streak right in the middle of the road. "Dammit, I will go do something else, I guess... Shit"

I got a line on brand new lights with Final lens', so I won't need headlights unless that falls through.

How much would you sell it all as a package for? Any damage to any of the parts? See if you can get me a shipping quote on the hood, ds fender, and the front bumper to 42001 (Paducah Kentucky). I can provide a buisness address for it to be shipped to, if it would be cheaper.

Jokes aside, you really should reconsider your lighting options. I assume since you had a ballast, then you had an HID retrofit kit. The clear lenses wont help you see better btw, they'll only diminish any trace of a real lighting pattern.

Take the time to go with the 97-98 front end, or go with the german headlamps if you're staying 95-96.

I dont like Dear Hunting ...its boring 99% of the time.

I was driving with a friend to my mothers house in BFE... it was about dusk... knew there is alot of dear in the area, and sure enough... just as we came over the hill... one runs right in front of me...missed the first... slowed down a bit and HOLY SH!T... a second one was running beside the truck on the driver side. I had the windows down and you could hear the hoofs on the street... it was insaine. First reaction was to speed up to avoid it. By boy said there was 3 total... one ran across after the drag race w/ the second dear.
All in all... Dear Suck!!

Glad you are OK... hope you get your car back in working order.

Peace
Drew

yeah yeah... a parts car is a truck, or a `84 civic wagon...

unless you're trying to say that the s14 you picked up is a spare car for extra parts, right?

so, you installed better seats into a car that you're going to be dumping soon?

whatever. seriously people, paint your shit-rides. theres no reason for driving around with unpainted panels, unless your name is chris dunn!

Lots of updates for the car. Sorry about the confusion on the headlights, when I said "ballast" I proably just wasn't thinking correctly. The car still uses OEM lighting. Final's were a bust, but oh well, no biggie there. Here are the updated pictures. The car sat for close to 4 months before I started to get work done on it. Took my time and got parts for great prices. Oh, and the body parts I picked up I got lucky and got them already color matched!

Well today I got bored with absolutely nothing to do. So I took my JDM Silvia Grille (already taken the silvia script off, my car isn't a Silvia so it does not belong), took some 800 wet paper and scuffed it up pretty good. Taped off the mirror ends and the black fins, and sprayed it with the can that I did my core structure (OEM color in a 11oz Aerosol), and proceeded to the garage to spray the grille so it would match my car (bought it off eBay, thought it was the same color, but the color was much lighter version of the USDM Ruby Pearl). Let it sit, gave it a second coat, let it dry, then finished it off with a coat of Dupli-color clear coat. Turned out absolutely great. Still going to wet sand it when I get time and give it a couple more coats of clear. But now it matches the color of my car greatly!
