My $900 S13 Fastback.. WHAT!

So I found this car on craigslist for $1,500, and it said it didn't run. So I gave him a call and set up a time to go look at it. I went and checked it out and sure enough it wouldn't run. Just turned over but didn't fire. So...ok dude I'll give you $900 Cash right now and ill come right back and tow it away....Ok it's yours. SWEET be right back let me go get a trailer. Came back and picked it up and towed it home and right when I got it in my driveway i hit under the hood. Got started doing some basic checks, fuel, spark, etc.. First off i wasent gettin fuel, ok no biggy opened up the hatch took the fuel pump cover off and started to bang on it to see if it would pump...Sure enough started pumping, Ok sweet lets try to start her now..Turned her over and she almost started but was poping back out of the intake. Ok fireing order is wrong..Checked out the manual Yep it was wrong. Put it like it was suppose to be 1,3,4,2 in Counterclock wise on the cap. BAMMMM She started right up perfect idle no problems...Changed the oil and been driving ever since last sunday when i bought her. Took me about 25mins after i bought it to get it running. Sad that people dont check common Stuff.... She needs a few things like Paint, Driver side window is off track and falls. Other than that she PERFECT. Tell me what you guys think...Thanks

Oh my god.. those are the cleanest s13 seats ive ever seen... now you need to part out the interior. replace it for something decent.. sell it for twice as much + the profit from the center piece( 50?) seats ( 100?) and uncracked dash( 300?) .... you can walk away with an extra 2-2.5 gs!.... DOOOOOO IT !

You overpaid in my opinion. To him, it was just a rolling shell with interior and horrible paint. You probably could have got it for $500. However, that interior does look very nice.

^I agree. Usually when I find S13s I tell them that I basically collect these cars and if they'd like to sell it I'd give them $500 for it. They usually scoff and I tell them I've bought 4 and never paid more than $750 for one (that one ran great) so maybe it's not worth it to sell, maybe it is, but either way they usually go for it right then or call me back later. These things are so overwhelmingly cheap, and from what I've heard, even cheaper around here.

That's awesome that you got it running. I don't think you overpaid at all because $900 for a shell is fine, but always start very low. Kudos on getting it running. Great buy!

The first 240 I got was a '89 hatch. Got it for $600:yum: cause it wasn't passing emissions. So we adjusted the timing screw and it passed no problem.

I picked my Coupe up for 500$, apparently the engines freeze plugs popped. XD The crank pully key was missing and the crank wasn't bolted down all the way. XD The SOHC engine ran for a bit, then I got a DOHC.

Out of the 5 240's ive owned in my life i never paid more than a grand for any of them! My latest one a perfect 94 convertible w/ a blown trans but still ran and drove i picked up for 400$ and the red fastback i owned before this i got for free it just needed to be fixed.

Thanks guys, I'll keep everyone posted with mods as they come. As for those fog lights, They are wired in like OEM in like a harness and seem to be factory but to tell you the truth I'm not sure or know if they are factory I don't know where in the car i can turn them on. =/

I got my car about 2 years ago for $1600. She has better paint tho, a nice interior with 150k. Base of all base models, no rear wiper, no sunroof, manual windows...a/c tho. I got those foglights too. The KA-E ran and still runs very strong. faster than all SOHC and DOHC S13's i've put her against, they were all mostly stock too. I guess the closest competitor are 1.8t GTI's. My friend has a mildly tuned (i believe just intake & exhaust) GTI and we're dead even. I call her my "factory freak"

Thanks guys, They only thing that has happened since I've had it now is that the fuel pump went out in it, So i ordered a Walbro 255lph pump yesturday so now ill have a good pump when i go SR. And i also ordered a new regulator for the drivers window! Going good.
