Hey everyone, my S13 just broke down and I can't figure it out. I bought a non-running 5-speed S13 shell and put a 95 KA24DE in it. I used the S13 intake and exhaust manifolds, wiring harness and ecu. I had it running perfectly for almost two weeks until the girlfriend drove it. I tried to to teach her how to drive a 5-speed, like a dumbass, and she came almost to a stop in third but then tried to accelerate. The car bucked real hard a few times and finally stalled. When I told her to get out and tried to re-start it the motor span over really fast. Not fast like no spark-plugs but faster than usual. I haven't checked the fuel pressure but I pulled the fuel rail and all 4 are squirting gas. It wasn't getting any spark until I replaced the coil. It's getting spark to all 4 now. Compession was 150-160 psi and the distributor timing has been set to 20.

I can't figure this out. All 4 cylinders are getting gas and spark. The electrical timing is right where it should be. Are KA's bad about jumping time? Maybe the timing chain is a couple of teeth off now? Could it be the ecu? I'm going to replace all the injectors just for the hell of it. I have another fuel rail just lying around. If that doesn't make any difference then I'm completely lost.

well you're checking all the right things. If you're getting that compression # then the timing is right on. Read the FSM and just double check things. Pull the ecu code if there is any. There might be a soft code. Does it start?

It does run but you can pull the 3 and 4 spark plug wires out of the motor and it makes no difference. The plugs are firing and those cylinders are getting gas. The check engine light is not on and I don't know how to read the codes.
