I got this turbo and are unsure what it is. Anyone here have any insight on this? It was purchased new and I was put under the impression that it is a HKS turbo. Here is all the info that i know:

HKS adjustable actuator (17230-004100 OB)
Exhaust side stamped with "Garrett, .64, 428-2, TR819

Center section plate reads:

Garrett Japan
IG 0114J
G17200-N48020
707160-9

Boost side reads Garrett M24

Here are some pics:

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

^^ cuz HKS uses garrett center cart.

for the poster check this out: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/turbo_comparison_sheet.htm
look under the turbo part number column

I think what you got there is a GT2560R not the greatest for hp but at least its BB

The closest part number that I found would match more to the GT2860R and even so the part number isnt the same. Does this turbo look familiar to anyone?

it looks like something like a t28bb - or some similar turbo with a slightly smaller compressor inlet - since its got that exh side

maybe its a older turbo thats not listed anymore?

T25 on a SR20 has the same M24 on the side of it compressor, also looks vary much like a T25, probably it is.

just about every real garrett turbo ive ever seen has a M24 - even t4's and gt35Rs

Deff not a T25. Also seeing that the turbo is stamped with Garrett Japan wouldnt the US parts list not be accurate? And remember supposedly a HKS turbo and the "Garrett Japan" would validate that but I guess only the design of the wheel would be diff.....

Who told you that it was an HKS turbo? If it is my guess would be the HKS GT-SS

usdm silvia is close - but if it is a HKS i believe its a GT2530 - the GTSS has a different casting on the compressor side

The guy that I got it from, out of curiosity why do you say its a GT-SS? If it is a GT-SS any idea on the efficiency and HP? Can this thing hit 350?? Arent HKS turbos casted with "HKS" somewhere on it?

Just from the pics it looks like a stock turbo (I cant tell how big it is I would need something next to it to compare it to) but it looks like the compessor side and turbine wheel is too small to be able to make 350. it looks like a Pulsar GTI-R Turbo with minor differences and the compressor outlet is only a two bolt flange.

It just has an HKS Actuator you can buy those for Stock T-25's an T-28's so its not an HKS Turbo

Found this listed on a forum:
707160-5 = HKS 2530
707160-7 = R34 N1 turbo exactly
707160-9 = GTSS HKS
707160-10 = GTRS

Damn I got it right?? The GT-SS is rated to 320hp:

Sounds very similar to the s15 t28

GT2860R, looks like it's sold in Australia as P/N 707160-0009. Garett tends to pad after the dash to 4 digits. Here's a link to a price list with it on there:

It's an HKS turbo made by Garrett, not a straight Garrett turbo.

The part #s for a gt-ss and a 2560R/2860R both match up - as do the power outputs and castings (although gt-ss's have a a/r .60 in the casting)... i've concluded they're the same thing with different names.

bottom line - tho ur not gonna see 350 outta that guy. close tho - you can come close with cams and stuff...

How big is the compressor turbine wheel? just measure it with a tape meausre (in inches) cuz it only looks like its only 1 to 1 1/4in thats about the size of a stock T-25 in that case you'll barely break 290 and thats with head work too. but I could be wrong I've never beefed up a SR with a stock turbine. So i dont know what you make

it has .64 cast in the turbine, the wheel on the boost side is is a little bigger than 60MM.
