Wow. Gotta love Zilvia mods. What sense does it make to lock a thread for too many bumpes versus having a new thread created cause your old one went dead? Anyhow....

The front end has a little damage, a dent in the hood, ziptied bumper blah blah. The paint is a little rough.

Something sporty, rwd and a manual, maybe a sunroof =), reliable and legal, clean title. I was lookin for a nice s14 with some mods but no sr.

As far as it being a red top....no. If I remember right, red tops don't have the fins on the head.

Lastly, sorry the pics a limited. I will get more up soon.

Mostly true....there are some late model red tops with cooling fins as well, during the switchover in the 180sx, doesn't matter as they're the same as the blacktop S13 if they've got the fins...larger oil pickup, larger piston oil squirters, etc.

The casting lines are only on Black tops...

not necissarily late model redtops from 94 also had cooling fins on the head but there valve covers where late, chris's is a black top though

I used to own a 1994 Nissan 180sx with a redtop SR20DET. It had the fins on the front of the head.

I've also seen more than one 1993 180sx with the fins on them. (I lived in Japan for 5 years)

My concern is the gloss black painted valve cover. The blacktop valve cover is a rough finish, and would require fully stripping and repainting gloss black to get that look. I suppose the time could've been taken, but those scratches on the valve cover happen in shipping/storage.... telling me that is the condition the motor was received from Japan in, right? I've never seen someone scratch up the valve cover that bad with an installed motor.

The good thing is, many of the parts are identical from late redtop to blacktop, such as the larger CAS gear on the exhaust cam sprocket.

From what else I can see in the picture, it appears to have a larger size O2 sensor, meaning its most likely got an E5 ECU, putting it closer to a true blacktop.

There's a lot of variables involved in buying a used motor from a country where these motors were raced a lot. It could be built of the parts of 5 different motors for all we know.:fart:

Anyway, if it runs good, who cares?

2. The valve cover was removed a long time ago when all gaskets were replaced. It got a little beat up. Wow. Its a BLACKTOP.
3. I'd love the wrx but how much cash on top?
