Clunking JIC

I have a 95 240sx with J.I.C. suspension sitting on 18's. I have had this set up for almost 4 years. Since I have installed the J.I.C. suspension I have experienced a clunking noise in both rear struts. Same noise from both of them. When I hit a little pot hole the rear end clunks. I have tried everything. I even sent these back to the factory to be rebuilt and was told that they were fine. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

I feel the same clunking. Its only when I go over a small pot hol, or run over a fucked up sewer cap or somethin...

Dude it drives me insane. J.I.C. is suppose to be the best. I didnt pay 17 bills to hear or feel a clunk. I wonder who else is getting the same clunk.

i had the same problem before, it was installed the wrong way or something. when i remember what happened i'll update.

That clunk you hear is the spring seating on the collar.

If you want to get rid of it, tighten your preload collar until the spring can't move up and down.

Get new Pillow Mounts in the rear. I had the same exact prolem with my teins. I sent them back to the factory and got them fully rebuilt, yet they still made noise. That is because the factory only checks compression and rebound settings to make sure that they are in the correct parameters. I put new pillow mounts and now they are smooth and quiet.

:rofl: Are you kidding me. Supposed to be the best made in Korea... Not the best by Japan's standards. Try Cusco or Tanabe if you want an upgrade to a real JDM brand. As far as Teins go, they are made in China. I have a reliable source at Cusco and Spoon/ Swift that told me this. Their shocks suck. That's the reason for the clunking. Now I can understand if you're getting the clunking from the pillow ball mounts in the rear.

check your rear upper pillow top bolt make sure you tighten it down all the way.thats what happend to mine jic and you suppose to check them and retighten all the bolts and perches that lock the springs etc from time to time.

I wouldn't doubt if cusco and tanabe out sources most of their products.

/\ FYI Cusco shocks I know is made by KYB like most shocks. Tokico makes their own and Showa as far as JDM goes. KYB makes the shock but it is the companies own patented design so they are made different. So they aren't really outsourced as you might think. Almost all japanese makes use KYB to make their OEM shocks.

They're clearly marked "Made in Japan" on the coilover, if you ever owned a set you probably would've known that. Have you had any personal experience with JIC? "Your Friend" or "Some Guy" isn't really a strong testimony to the quality of their products. I personally love my JICS, but customer service can suck it.

My FLT-A2's were making the same noise but all that needed to be done was tighten the nut on the top of the pillow ball mount.

I've had two sets of JIC's in the past...another thing that makes them clunk is the bottom rubber bushing wearing out & the metal inner sleeve making contact with the shock bolt or shock housing.

Thanks guys for all your insight. I appreciate it. And for those of you who think I paid to much... That was 4 years ago. Im not sure what they are going for now, but i do know that the car handles insane and drifts like a champ.

I know him through a friend, And he did his the bestthat he could do with what he hed to work with. JIC in japan doesnt give him much room to work with
