Just curious if anyone can give me a hand with this one. Already searched and didn't find any information on this topic.

Here's my problem:

The back of my driver's seat on my S13 fastback refuses to stay locked in place. It started off as a small issue and it wouldn't stay sitting straight up like I prefer it to and I could push it back forward with my hand and it would go back and then just move back another inch or so.

Well now the problem (in only the span of a couple of days) has progressed to the point where I can now move the entire back of the seat with my bare hand and not have to lift the lever on the side.

I plan on going out and fixing it tomorrow morning (it's dark now, unfortunately, since I've been at work all day) and I was wondering if anyone can give me any information on how to fix this. I doubt it's a problem that's been encountered before, but I'm just curious. If not, has anyone taken the seat apart already and knows how the reclining seat in a car works? Just looking for some information on how to fix it or just some information on what to expect when I start tearing into it tomorrow.

Thanks ahead of time for any help that anyone can offer to me. Hope to hear from someone soon! :)

I have this problem with my seat. The problem with mine, is that the metal where the lever locks down on the seat, just snapped, so I have to pile crap behind my seat to keep it up. Hopefully you do not have this problem, and its something else. Luckily my brackets and sliders are coming back from the welders tomorrow so I can put my new seats in.

I have the same problem. The two bolts that connect the seat back to the entire reclining assembly remained in their threaded holes, but the holes snapped off from the rest of the seat on both bolts. I pulled them all out and I could bend and break the metal with my fingers, it was really bad.

I was able to find a pair of S14 seats out of a 1995 today at my local junkyard in damned near MINT condition. They just need a vacuuming and maybe a wee bit of Febreeze but other than that, they're perfect. Got 'em for $80+tax, too.
