I did the wiring on my sr harness the other day and eveything looks good except that i have a connector on the passenger side of the engine bay, towards the front that appears to be the power steering sensor wire (i traced it down to a sensor in the pump discharge line). now, my sr harnes was sent to me chopped to hell, so i couldnt find a plug that went to it. after sorting everything else out i found that i had 2 cut wires left. they are blue/ wht stripe and black. i pull the plug off the ka harness and the wires are brn and black. not a big deal but on the ka harness the brown wire goes to the ecu and on the sr harness the blue/ wht stripe wire bypasses the ecu as if it went into the dash harness. im very confused, im trying to figure this out asap.

any help is appreciated, thanks

P/S sensor wire is useless. You don't need it.

cool man, thanks. makes things alot easier. however, what was its purpose on the ka? just curious.

On SR and KA, it turns up the idle when your wheel is fully cocked over to one side. How often is your car like that though? That's why nobody ever bothers wiring it. Less wiring is better anyways.

The power steering wires are confusing. They are not described in the FSM very well in either the steering section or the electrical section. You have to go to the big wiring diagram in the back of the FSM and trace them to the appropriate harness.

The signal controls idle speed, as described above.

^ What are you talking about. The PS switch (along with diagram) is under the Engine Control System section of the FSM, and there is even a dedicated page for the PS Switch. What's confusing you? It plain as day has one wire (Purple w/White stripe) that goes from the ECU to the plug, and a black wire that goes from the plug to ground.

well, what is confusing me is, the only plug that is missing of my sr harness would be blue/wht and black. i know black is ground. i was mainly wondering if i should even worry about wiring that up. still debating on that but thanks for all the help.

Forget about it, simple. As mentioned, all it does is idle up the engine a bit at full lock to prevent a higher load on the engine.
You will never notice it gone.

I attached the appropriate excerpts from the FSM. You may see for yourself what colours the wires are.

It's confusing because the SOHC is different, and since you only have access to the DOHC FSM, it's confusing because you have to follow the switch to the connector behind the battery, and on to the ECU.

My main critique of the FSM is that they are translated from Japanese specifications, and the Japanese traditionally have not been known for meticulous presentation of the specifications. There are some gaps in the FSM that I feel should have been addressed more thoroughly.

Then again the FSM was meant for a qualified technician so they felt they could skim on some details.

dont forget about AC, its an input for it, when wheel is fully locked it shuts off AC, also i dunno if niussan has varring ps, if not, then for idle and AC
