Okay I know Im going to get flamed for this. Im running low on time, and Ive been working so much I havent had time to tear the car a part. Okay heres the problem, my friend left me with his 91 240sx se. He just put a new clutch in it before he gave it to me. I drove it twice and everything was fine. Just recently I went to start it up and drive it down to a shop so I could work on it and the clutch pedal was touching the floor board. I put the pedal back in the up position and put pressure on it. As soon as I did that it flopped back to the floor board. It has absolutely no pressure in the pedal. It has plenty of fluid and like I said a new clutch. Only thing I can think of is the master cylinder or slave cyllinder? Is there anything else that could factor into this problem? Like when he put the new clutch in he forgot to do something, or could of messed something up? I wouldn't be writing this if I had time to tear it apart, but It only has temp. registration on it until the end of this month. So I need to narrow down the problems quick, instead of searching all day. I need to get it running asap, so I can fix the other problems and get it smogged.
Thanks to anyone that helps.

It definitely sounds like the slave cylinder.

Bleed it again, I just replied to another thread like this, the 240 is bad at having air in the lines, bleed the crap out of it and bleed it again. Bleed it at the slave and follow the line back to the clutch dampner and bleed it there also.

Just get rid of the damper, bend the line, reconnect and bleed a couple good times. If the problem persist replace the slave, and check for leaks under the carpet around the clutch pedal. If there are signs of a leak replace the master cylinder.
God help us!

Sounds like the same problem I had. I replaced my slave cyl and like a couple of hours later my Master Cyl. took a shit. So I would suggest buying both Master and Slave from Nissan. I've never had any good luck with after market slave cylinders

you can buy rebuild kits for the slave and the master for cheaper.. just open the bleed on the slave and flush the whole system.. while your down there see iff the slave has a ripped boot or signs of fluid dripping out of the boot the rod comes out of.. replace slave first then bleed.. then do master if that doesnt help.

There are 2 correct answers in this thread:
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showpost.php?p=1171268&postcount=4
... and
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showpost.php?p=1171268&postcount=5
... if these 2 don't fix you, given what you have described, replace the clutch, repeat both of these anyway. If THAT doesn't complete you, beat the individual who sold you the car to within an inch of his life and have HIM make it right.

Yea, that'll work. But this solution requires that you remove some of the stock hydraulic system on the car (i.e, everything connecting the hardline from the clutch MC to the SC).
This is a simple problem and the troubleshooting should be a piece of cake. You've got a bottle of fluid attached to a cylinder. A hard line running from the cylinder to a rubber line that connects to another cylinder. Your clutch pedal makes it all work. If your clutch engages when you depress the pedal, both cylinders are holding pressure. If it does not, you've got a leak.
Just as was said above, bleed the prop box before the slave cylinder, then bleed the slave itself. Remember that when you bleed it's one depression of the pedal, and crack the cylinder. One press, open. Repeat. If you try to 'pump up' pressure in the line before you crack the valve on the other end open on a dry system, all you're doing is forcing the moving parts in the slave cylinder to operate unlubricated, and that's bad. So go slow and do it right.
Once you're done you should check the position of your clutch pedal in relation to the floor for proper height. On an s13 it's about 7.5 inches from the floor. This can be adjusted with a 12mm wrench on the pedal stop. You'll find it on the bracket that the pedal pivots on, about five inches above the rubber grip on the pedal itself.
Sorry for the wordy replies fellas, but sometimes when you're stuck on something it helps to hear every little step clearly. Hope you figure it out.

Second time today I replied to this problem.
New OEM master cylinder, Taka Motorsports braided clutch line from master to slave, and Nismo slave. SpeedBleeders if you're lazy.
Throw away all the stock components.

thanks for the information but like I said up top my friend left me his car, so Im not looking to put anymore money out of my pocket into his car than I have to.
Well luckily in november dmv had grace on me and gave me an extension through march to get the car smogged. And since Ive been working crazy hours since then I just now had time to trouble shoot the problem. It was the slave cylinder that had gone out. I replaced it and bled it like S13_gearhead said to and everything is working fine now. Thanks everyone for your help..........now I just have to figure out why it wont smog. Gotta love friends that drop their cars off for you to use, just to find out you have to work on it and put more money into it than your own 240
