I absolutely love the 1995-1998 240SX - not fond of S13 tho . It will be me second car, that I pay for completely and the first car I will actually put my hard earned money into performance and otherwise. Here is a list of things I will be doing to the 240SX upon completion of purchase. Please list good/excellent parts and their approx. pricing. Keep in mind it is a 1995-1998(S14). In their respective order of purchase:
SR20DET, S15 Front End Conversion, Intake, Brake System, Coilovers(whatever else I need, plz explain - i.e.- camber kit, etc.), Downpipe, Exhaust System, Front Mount Intercooler, Fuel Pump, Boost Controller, Headgasket, Valve Springs, Rocker Arm Stopper, Clutch, LSD, Injectors, ECU, Turbo upgrade, etc (any other required mods for the above listed).
Sorry for the length of the list. Suggestions, factual info, and links are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

if u r plannin on doin the swap first u should go ahead and get and do everythin that has to deal with the turbo at the same time...unless u really want to i would hold off on the s15 conversion til the end and work on either the motor first or the suspension...thats jus my $.02 though

Well i am going to say this from what you posted you realy dont know what you are talking about that well.IF you are getting a 95-96 240 a s15 conversion is ok but for the 97-98 they are rare as is.Then if you get a sr20det you cant get an intake for them they are turbo. You get a intake for a n/a car like the ka24de or what ever car. Then check and see if the 240 has a lsd already on it.Plus the oney you want to spend you would have to be rich. You are looking at about 15+gs to get that all done.Thats just my .02 cents

Why can't you have an intake on a turbo car? My friend's 94 RX7 Turbo has one...
And this project will not occur all at once. Drawn out over a few years. What would you suggest I do when I first get the 240SX? Swap or what?

I noticed some of that too, but lets cut the guy a break. Sounds like he's going to have a hell of a car.
But maybe brakes and suspension should be done first? Control is more important that go. Just a thought. What FMIC are you looking at? Oh, get an LSD before anything else!

Why are you doing a brake system? I am assuming you mean new lines and a big brake kit. Wouldn't new rotors and pads be fine. If you ARE planning on doing the big brake kit, I personally would say to wait, cause I don't think it's necessary RIGHT NOW.
As far as the price list...this is my personal list:
SR20DET, incl. downpipe - $2800
Blitz FMIC - $700-800
s15 front end conversion -
Front bumper - $400-$600

sorry...button happy...anyway...as I was saying...
s15 conversion
front bumper - $400-$600
fenders - $240
s15 headlights - $700-$800
hood - not sure yet
Intake - $200
Coilovers - $1300
Exhaust - $400-$500
boost controller - $500
ACT clutch - $350
some prices are just an estimation, except for the engine and the coilovers, which I already have. Also, keep in mind that I have an s13, so some prices may be different for you. It depends on what brands you get...plus installation is a pain. I am having my boyfriend and another friend help me with the engine swap, and I'm doing the headlight conversion myself...well...with help Yo also might want to think about paint...esp. if you are planning on spending this much...you might as well get a good paint job. Also....there's alot that's not already on your list, just fyi...you didn't mention anything about rims/tires, bodykit, gauges, anything that you want to change about the interior...etc. I'm sure you probably already know all this....but I just wanted to mention it anways. I only planned on having to spend $2500 for the engine swap...the I found out about all the EXTRAS that you have to get along with the engine....quite a surprise....lol. Anyway, Unless you have the unfortunate problem of an overstuffed wallet, I'd only get what is necessary right now, as far as the engine/performance stuff, meaning, I'd wait on the turbo, etc and concentrate on quality right now, instead of quantity.

a S15 front end conversion will run you upwards to $3,000.00 USD.
a SR20DET swap can run you $3000.00-$6000.00 depening on which SR you want.
if you want a a S14/15 i would suggest you get a 94-96 240SX and start from there. the color won't matter much since you need to paint the whole front anyways might as well paint the whole car. the miles won't matter much either since you are getting a new enigne.
but...... you have to consider this. you have to drive this car for as long as you have to save up XXX ammount for your swap.
If i were you i would get a S14B with a decent ammount miles on it and just drive it and modd it slowly , with mods that will stay over from the swap/conversion ..
IE. exhuast, audio mods, rims, suspension, brakes, etc...
i would really get brake upgrades like high quality brake fluid, get steel lines, and some street pads. i think thats a good enough set uo for a begining car.
also the question about the intake. you cannot put an intake on a turbo car. BUT you can put on a intake cone filter.
good luck

I really think that if you want a sr20det, and a front end conversion... you should get a s15 front clip. Everybody sells them, but make sure you tell them to get body panels. You'll pay more, and have to pay more for shipping, since you're gonna tell them to pad the hell out of it.. but still, it'll be cheaper since you're paying for one shipping cost, and getting it at once from one dealer.
Also... strut tower bars can be as low as $40 from ebay. They are OBX, but still... a big chuck of metal is a big chunk of metal.. .I don't care who makes it.
Blitz intercoolers are also $800ish on ebay.
I don't like the Apex'i boost controller. It's too big, and too blue. I would get a HKS EVC-4. Same features, $299 or less on Ebay. Also 1/4 din size.
The Greddy wastegate you will have to wait on. If you upgrade your turbo, you might need a new manifold. Then your wastegate will be determined by what fits on the new manifold. Also.. TiAL wastegates are one of the best one the market. And they are also $279. On Ebay, which is a lot better than $1k for a gate.
Finally, you forgot a turbo timer. They are about 100, and each is as good as the others... except features... like my HKS type1 gives 0-60 and 1/4mile times, and some other stuff. It was $119. Ebay.
And. You don't need a rev/speed meter. Possibly a Apex'i AFC, but not the rev/speed meter.

Try Ebay. Honestly, I am an Ebay junkie, and alot of times you can find good deals on new products. I've seen the s15 headlights go for $600, while they retail at like $850. Ebay is a really good place to find things....it's just a matter of holding out until you find something in perfect condition at a good price.
Just a thought....
Tyr this site too...

If that doesn't work, it's www.thepartstrader.com, look under "Nissan (other)"
