Hello All,

I have a 91 240sx SE automatic (no HICAS).

I'm starting on changing the water pump.
But I can't get the belt off.

The water pump pulley/belt is connected to the Power Steering.
There are 2 adjustment screw/bolt on the PS there but when I loosen them,
the PS pulley stays put instead of pivoting and loosening up.

Am I doing something wrong?

I know I can get the belt off by pulling the WP off, but then I would
still have problem when it is time to put the belt on.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

k, my car IS a hicas, but I've looked at and removed all that crap on a none hicas car so it's really similar. Basically, there should be two bolts that will prevent the ps pully from vibrating it's self loose. You'll have to put a socket through the holes in the pully to get to one of them. After that, it's a matter of figuring out which way to turn the really long bolt that makes the pully move up and down on the bracket. The fsm has a good explanation of how to do it.

Loosen rotating bolt. Push on pump to release tension.

This is NOT rocket science kids.

step 1) aqquire knife
step 2) cut
step 3) post a thread about where to buy a new belt.

the bolt only keeps it tensioned

when you loosen the bolt the pump won't move
tap it lightly with a rubber mallet and the pump will move down

What tech said is right on, i had to do it myself too.

Got it.
Needed to loosen the pivot bolt.
I read on one of the other post that this was only
the case for the HICAS.
But like Tech 12 called it. It goes for my car as well.

Thanks guys.
