Just called the local Nissan dealership and was transfered to the PARTS department.
Asked for a differential cover gasket. After humming and hawing on the other line hey replies "oh wow, i'm surprised it has one of them in the back"
He quotes me 32 bucks then i ask how much for the diff bushings..
After more sighing he replies "i don't show those....They are in the front of the car by the suspension...right?"
Never mind.....hang up.

hey man, i know what your talking about. I swear this is true. I went to our local nissan dealership for exhaust donut gaskets. told the guy it was a '90 240sx. He goes, what make? I looked, and asked, what do you mean? fucking idiots. *a

The guys who work the parts counters are not mechanics. Some of them don't even drive the make of the dealer they work for. They are just answering a phone and punching info into a computer. I know it's frustrating, but try to keep in mind who you're talking to. It'd be great if they hired more knowledgeable people to run the parts counter, but it's just not cost effective.

I have to know where the part is in the fast system and then take them thru the menus. They don't know how to look up by part number. I sometimes get the guy that can look up by the Nissan name for the part. But it's rare.

I'm usually patient with my local dealership. And why would you buy a gasket when you can use gasket maker?

That's what I used to do when I went there. Now I call my friend on his cell, give him the part/part#, and give him the cash for it whenever I see him.

Haha truth.. Right after buying my 240 I went to Nissan parts to get a few things. I was explaining a situation with smoke from my shifter and he kept telling me It couldn't be the shift boot it has to be the part that seperates the tranny from the cabin or blah blah. Anyways I ignored him and bought the $10 boot (which had a huge hole in it) and she hasnt smoked since.

Yeah, sad but true.
I asked for the gasket that is located between the shifter plate and the bell housing.
Answer I got from Nissan dealership: "Uh...I don't think there is a gasket there, per say. Just use some RTV."
15 minutes later I drove down to the dealership and planted my copy of the FSM down on the parts counter.
Needless to say, the gasket does exist, and yes, it did cost and arm and a leg.
Oh well.

Quoted for truth, and whe you do finally find what you need you like F that I dont think I should pay close to $60 bucks for 8 insulators and 4 o rings so I can use my FD 550s in my SOHC fuel rail.

Just search a copy of the FAST software they use at the dealer and search it yourself.

i guess someone has some anger issues (as the title implies).
I usually give them the part number, or if they let me...point it out on the screen.

Use Ultra Black, thin layer, by the time you get the bolts back on and fill it, it will be setup enough to drive. it is alot thicker than reg permatex gasket maker. Only thing I use when rebuilding Transmissions and gearboxes. I have that crap in a calking gun I use it so much.

That's not the point.
I called the dealership to buy overpriced OEM shit and, by God, the person on the other end better be able to sell me overpriced OEM shit.

Yeah, I hear ya. My nissan dealership sux bawls. They are a "Nissan, Caddillax, Mitsubishi, pontiac" dealership. wtf? how can they be good at anything that way? I'd rather order online than deal with my local stealership. That is the one place I do not have a wholesale account at.

I downloaded it but I don't know how to extract the files and stuff. Is there a tutorial for that?
