Things like that are the VERY reason I take my camera with me wherever I go, I like that guy's thinking.

Wow. crazy. Didn't Ford have a problem with their Expedition's spotaneously combusting? American engineering. :keke: Probally was dealer's fault in this case though...

Crazy reminds me of the time i was driving to vegas and saw a brand new montero sport engulfed in flames. We rolled up all five of us digi cams flashing away. Then we posted up and helped out the stranded fam. But man does that suck. All their vacation gear burned up.

I used to do that but it got too overwhelming cause my wife would want it then if i were in a rush to work I'd leave it at home and so on and so forth.. When I finally got a new one the old one broke so now I'm stuck with just one again..

I know that the Expiditions did come with exploding Firestone tires...Magor lawsuits and recalls...but yeah i assume that this fire was a dealers fault.

Yeah.. From the pic it doesn't look like a total loss though.. The sides/front still look perfect.. Heck I'd want the motor/rims/brakes/suspension/seats/hood still that's for sure.. WHo knows what the car looks like underneath though.

Then just buy a regualr vette and put those parts onto it.. Have a budget Z06, with cheaper insurance

It's still good, it's still good...

Reminds me of when I went back to visit my family in Germany. We took a road trip to Berlin. A couple of hours after we arrived there we drove around the city at night. Out of nowhere you see about a dozen police and fire vehicles haul ass passed us. A couple of minutes later we saw why. Right there, in the middle of an intersection, in the middle of the city, stood an early 90's VW just blazing.

Kind of surreal.

This past weekend on the 91 west around 5 o'clock my wife pointed out smoke rising and traffic started to slow down a lil bit.. We went around a bend and there was a suv ablaze (looked like a red expedition or explorer).. The only damage to the car was the passenger side fender (Which was completely gone)... No other cars involved, no skid marks ,and no damage next to the wall on the shoulder... I didn't see anyone there but one CHP officer.. The front two seats were ablaze and i didn't see any figure(s) of a skeleton/person so I assume they fled the scene.. That was the only car ive seen on fire beside the Neon i saw on the 5 north near the alicia parkway exit a couple years back.

A sad ending, the dealership must be kicking themselves in the back of the head right now. Would his insurance company / bank (if its out on loan, probably is) go after the dealership in this sort of situation?

poor z06...i wonder what the smell of burning carbon kevlar smells like, ew...id offer to buy it off him just for all the magnesium and carbon kelvar parts...not to mention the rims and brakes...really sucks for him, but insurance and/or a hefty lawsuit will put him back on the road in no time...

Actually it was both Ford's and Firestone's fault on that. Ford later discovered that their SUV designs were shit and Firestone tires just made it worse. It was all over the news a while back about it also.

actually, it was said that ford engineers knew and warned ford about correcting it, but instead they gave recommended tire pressures to run...what mundane driver notices tire pressures?...i guess in this case, the tire pressures on the door jamb and manual actually meant life or death...same thing happened with the chevrolet corvair back in the day...
