I was going to put these in the picture thread but I figured there were too many. Admins, if these need to be moved let me know.

Saturday I headed up to Bihoku Highland Circuit with Kawabata-san (red S14) from Driving Sports and Sato-san (red FC) a buddy who is the shop manager at Mazda here in town for some drifting.

I've been drifting for over a decade (starting to feel old) but this was actually few time on a circuit.:ghey:

It was a pretty crappy day with constant rain and plenty of fog but the drive up was pretty scenic despite the fact that I spent most of it trying to keep up with Kawabata while he hauled ass in the truck.

We got to the circuit at around 7AM and were the first to arrive. After getting the Driving Sports S14 off the truck and getting it ready for action along with some tire swapping on my R32 everyone had pretty much filtered in.
This was a "local" event but there were some guys from Osaka and Kyoto and some of the RYO guys showed up as well.

Anywho after the drivers meeting there was the requisite warm-up round which I was pretty nervous about but I picked up pretty well. I wasn't at all prepared for the speed and I kept losing it on the first turn after the main straight. After a few more laps, a little less speed, and the realization that there is a lot more wiggle room than a puny mountain road I was able to keep from seeing the ass end pass by me. lol.

I entered the Beginners class and Kawabata and Sato being D1SL drivers entered Pro. To make a long story short they both made it into the top 3 but went down to one of the RYO guys. I think Kawabata would have won but he refused to slow down for the turn after the straight and spun twice. His S14 is fast as shit and he was hitting the limiter all the way down the straight.

I "qualified" for the finals in the beginner class but on a practice run during the final break I popped my motor (spun bearing) so I decided to drop out so I could make the 40 minute limp back home.

With all that being said. Here are the pictures. There are about 50 of them and they're big so if you don't want to wait for them to load I will have the story up on my site in the next couple of days with thumbnails.

No video unfortunately. I forgot my extra memory cards too so I ran out of space and couldn't take more pictures. I'm dropping hints on the wife to get a DV cam for Christmas. lol. I figured it would be fun to make my own drift videos and put them up on the site for free download of course.

The weather at Bihoku was probably just as crappy as Nikko. At one point there was a one hour delay because fog was covering the track an the judges couldn't see the cars.

I'm going over to Driving Sports tonight to drop in the new motor. I was considering building a solid RB20 but since they are a dime a dozen and I'm not going to be making more than 300-320PS so I'm just going to stick with stockers for now.

im glad you have another one so soon!
look into getting the JVC harddrive camera, I love it with the extra battery (pm me for the hookup fo rmy pricing)
its super easy to upload and edit with the included stuff!

I really like some of your uses of focusing. deffinately gives me ideas!

I've been collecting motorsets for a few months now so I have plenty to blow. lol.

As for my photoskills... I have none! I honestly just put my crappy Cybershot on automatic and point and shoot. I usually turn it sideways because I think the pictures look cooler angled.

Nice vented hoods on a lot of those cars, although the altezza tailights are over the top for me, taking these cars from extreme to just lame.

thoes are custom probably, you could get d max if you want, they sorta look like that. kindof ugly considering it shaves the body crease on the rear and you still have it on the front 2/3s of the car.

I hate Altezzas more than a crack head hates.... well, not having crack. But the only thing I can do about it is go back in time and clip (I've been watching the Sopranos) the Toyota designer who came up with them. I really need to get on that...

the scotish guy andy gray has the coolest trailer ive seen. Its like the one there, but when it leans back, it also goes back off the truck by a chain, and lays on the ground flat so you can drive on adn off of it nad not rip off body parts. Coolest thing ive ever seen. has a space for 8 wheels in teh front, adn you can even put a BBQ on it lol

The boro S13 was awesome. The driver was balls-out. It's covered in mud because he was laying on the rev limiter coming out of the main straight and lost it and ended up in the mud and had to be towed out... for his next run. lol.
