Got a CEL for MAF sensor. Replaced it with another used one, reset the ecu, and still the code.
I'm starting to think the wiring to the maf is bad(looks old and brittle) or if my maf's are BOTH bad... SO, can anyone help?
trying to get car ready for upcoming d. event.
thanks.

Testing for continuity from the MAFS connector to the pins of the ECU. I believe an extra ground helps out due to the MAFS having a poor ground or something. I think I read that on here.

could you please be a little more specific on how and what to do? thanks

bust that multimeter out and check continuity from the maf to the ecu pin for the maf

try your maf in a buddies car and see if it runs the same as it does with his own maf.

make sure u check them brittel wires, as u said that may be your problem. my car was down for a week becuase one of my wires broke off underneath all of the electrical tape going to my CAS.

what is the car doimg to make you belive the maf is bad? my car wants to shut down after coming off extream mild to hard acceleration, my friends say that the bov needs to be recirculated. is my problem the same as yours?

^^
do you have SR, KA, or other??? that sounds like and KA-t problem, you have to tune for dec if so. i never had that issue with my car after installing my safc, actually i really never had that issue befor my safc becuase i am using an N60 maf and it allows more fuel to be injected during dec preventing stalling.

i have a sr. it needs to be retuned, thats what i think. the guy in japan didnt keep it stock (hks plugs, 2 men and a little boy to push the clutch in and thats what i found so far havent got a chance to really tear in to it). but my tach wont work with a 93 plus gauge it idles at zero and then goes up., the idle has been turned up to i would say by the sound 1200 rpm.

im pretty sure u already check. but just make sure all of your body harness ( oil
tach etc) wires are connected properly.

yeah i did, everything works right except that and stalling. for your everyday driving it doesnt stall or i should say want to stall. wire man is coming back soon and he is supposed to check everything again.

Here's the solution FTW = READ the FSM

Can someone be SUPER SPECIFIC?! Like your teaching a retard specific.
I have a multimeter, but haven't used it much at all.

Read the FSM like recommended, look for the section decribing proper MAF operation (voltage range specifically).
Get some t-pins (any arts and crafts store would have them).
Stick the pin into into the connector and use it to read the voltage when the car is on.
Have a friend increase the throttle and make sure the voltage increases or decreases like it's supposed to.
BTW, this is how you check any plug. Investing in a quality (ie expensive) meter would be a great idea since they have featueres (like mapping) that are awsome for trouble shooting electrical problems.
