silvia headlight with a "240sx" bracket?

so here goes.. i tried using search as i always do but no luck. Bottom line i want more air coming from front of the car, the chuki front bumper just isnt cutting it. I dont wan to go with aftermarket aero so that being out of the question leaves with the silvia front that i had years ago but of course completely forgot small mounting details..

now here is the prob, i do not want to change my current set up and wanted to see if i will be able to install the silvia front with US headlight brackets and be able to mount the bumper on as well without the support? I'll make extra brackets that will hold the bumper on top if needed but main concern is how the US headlight brackets are going to work with silvia headlight if that is even a possiblity? The FMIC is huge so that is my bumper support and i'm using exisiting mounting points of the bumper support to hold it in place with extra brackets i made, and my headlight brackets are welded on sides holding an oil cooler and fans in front of them.. chuki bumper seems to hold up just fine, no saggin or anything.. If anyone has pics of the silvia front bumper (front mounting positions) that would be great so i can get an idea if this will be feasable.. and if anyone knows about the US brackets being used.. are they just too wide so the headlight hit them? If its just a matter of some trimming from top and drilling holes in them to hold the headlight in place that shouldnt be a prob.. tks for any info in advance! I don't know what your setup is, but the Silvia headlamps will bolt onto the stock chassis using existing holes and the Silvia light brackets. No modifications necessary.

If you need pictures, let me know. Johnny Fraz also posted some in the vendor forum. He sells custom Silvia light brackets.

You will probably need to trim your bumper since your FMIC is so big.

tks for quick reply back! yes i know the silvia front will fit like a glove with silvia headlight brackets, or those aluminum ones someone is selling on the forum (very nice btw) the only prob is that in my case i want to see if i can get away with using the US headlight brackets and possibly trim them to fit. Wondering if anyone had tried this? Reason being, too much stuff is tied in behind the FMIC so i cannot take them out as i dont feel like re-doing the entire set up. thanks again!

The US brackets have the larger protusion that will have to be cut off, and the new headlights won't have anything to mount to besides the fenders, which will flex like hell when supporting the added weight. For the trouble of trying to rig it you can do it right and save time.

That's exactly right. Just use the light brackets. You can trim the bumper all kinds of way to clear the FMIC.

The lights will have nothing to bolt to otherwise. It's just 4 nuts/bolts holding each light on, and the light is heavy.

Ismar, you could definitely put the Silvia headlight brackets on in place of your stock pop up headlight brackets, and do the same thing with them on the oil cooler and fan brackets. I would say on the bumper do not worry. A of SR guys with Silvia fronts and FMIC do not run a bumper support because of the FMIC.

tks for replies back guys! especially on the bumper situation so its good to know that it will mount nicely even without the bumper support (hopefully not sag) eitherway even if it does i can add extra brackets for support. As for my "US" headlight brackets.. i think i'm going to try and get a silvia headlight and do some measurements.. p.s. i'm not lazy to swap the silvia headlight brackets or anything like that, i know its a joke to swap them out if this was under normal circumstances.. my current headlight brackets are "welded" as they are support my oil cooler and fans behind the oil cooler.. so lazy yes in a sense that i dont want to be spend more time fabricating another location for my existing oil cooler that cannot fit anywhere else but there do to its size and room left with the set up. Good to know definitely on the bumper situation now i'm just gonna try to take some measurements and see if this is feasable with US bracket at all, and have the silvia headlight brackets as the last resort due to extra work needed to make everything else fit..

Some people make their own light bracket. All you really need is something to bolt the headlights on at the correct angle and distance to mount your corner lamps, bumper, and hood. All parts could be had from Home Depot.
