I'm not slammin on anyone, but i'm wonderin what is all the slammin about with there ricey cars.  All you guys do know your riding in jap car.  Most of the style and innovation comes from japan and are done in japan before it even comes to the states.  Normally, the US is the last to see or get anything.  So my question is about the rice style.  I hope all you asian 240 drivers aren't sayin this kind of crap.  For the American drivers sportin the 240 rice burners--you can envy or dislike but don't hate.  You'd be concidered a hippocrate slammin someone's ricey vehicle while the whole time your drivin one too (bone stock or modified).  Maybe its an age and maturity thing.

Here we go...something I can comment on....
The way I see ricers (as do my friends) not just as someone who has a Japanese car, but as someone just getting into cars with their parents money and want to impress people with an ugly ass car. Example: kid gets a Civic. Kid puts nasty ass wing (Whale tail). Kid puts hallow sounding muffler that sounds like a Ricola commercial. Kid puts Altezza lights. Kid goes to Jack in the Box to find some 15 year old girls. Kid is a ricer. Now, basically a ricer is someone who totally dedicates their time and money to looks alone, but not just regular looks, but EXTRAVAGANT looks. You could say the total opposite to a ricer would be a sleeper. I have lots more shit about ricers in my head but I'm too lazy to type it all. Well thats my 2 cents. PAYCE.

ok, hmmm... IMHO, i think ricers are A) kids whos daddys pay for their civics/integras andmods B) ppl &nbsp;who go for body kits, 17's wings and stuff before even dropping in a K+N( because i think that performance should come before style) and C) all of the above

A ricer is based on what a person does to the car, not the car itself. I should know, i used to equate hondas to ricers (ex.S2000, 97 and up preludes, and NSX). I know now that you shouldnt do that. However, if somebody puts stupid stuff (ie. huge wings, altezze lights, robot-like body kits, lawn mower mufflers, etc) on the cars mentioned above, they will be cosidered ricers. Just remember, its what is done to the car that makes it ricer, not the make.

Here is my understanding. There is a nice looking/beautiful car and there is a ricey car....

But for most people those 2 things mean basicly the same. Anyways, i like some of the cars that people call rice. Yeah, they are all show, no go, but there show isn't at least ambiguous/gay looking.

Examples:
body kits - nice looking
racing seats - nice looking
lowered to the ground - nice looking
even 4.5 tipped exhausts can sometimes be nice if they really flow the same way as the whole car.
On the other hand, altezzas, 20" rims, gauges on non-turbo cars... all these things that don't add performance yet look gay are rice....

hers a pic of modified 95-96 240sx w/ S15 front end conversion, this is a nice looking car, except for the big a$$ wing.. that was too much! the reason why it doesnt look rice is because it is a 240! had it been a Civic.. it would prob. be ricey looking! there is something about Civics.. they just come out of the factory being ricey looking! It's like premium sound package.. there's a Premium Rice Package for Civics!

I consider all knockoff companies RICE. &nbsp;Erebuni, Tenzo R, ADR, Konig....etc. &nbsp;All they do is copy someone elses design and cheapen it. &nbsp;Copanies like them fool the public in to believing they are gettin quality.

Most of these companies have poor quality and are no way comparible to the products of the companies they copy.

I'll prob get flamed but most people who own them will admit they are using crap. &nbsp;Ya and the argument is that "well the real stuff is too expensive" &nbsp;That's why you save. &nbsp;$250 for APC lights would be 1/4 of the money you could get Volk Gram Lites for.

If you can't afford it don't get it....it's like buying a FOLEX and trying to pass it off as a ROLEX. &nbsp;Just wait till you can afford it.

sup all... i couldnt help but be curious about this post so i went in to check it out,

first off Julia...ur ride is tight, i like ur body work and engine work too i might add...

i find nothing wrong with body kits or wings, stickers or anything that has to deal with show... but i do find that sometimes these things arent presented in a reasonable manner therefore u can call it rice. i can see where the guy who posted the board is coming from...those wings and those body kits are started in japan, but the cars that the guys in japan ride hav the muscle to back up the looks of their cars.

I have to disagree here. In this case my car is 50% rice. But i dont consider it ricey at all.

I got a noname fstb for $20. Is it as good as cusco? no. Was it worth buying? yes. I'd say that performance/dollar ratio is higher for cheaper stbs.

I got cross drilled and slotted rotors from i-rotors for $200 all 4. The cheapest other ones i've found were at least $70 for each. Is that a knock off? No, i don't think that 70 dollar ones perform any better.

It's just that some things really don't do alot to your car, and buying them for expensive is just a waste of money. Example: My escort got a piece-o-$hit procarparts intake. Paid $60. I had to cut the piping and drill a hole for temp sensor. Or i could buy a real one for $120 and fit it with no problem. But in the end i still have the same mandrel bent 2" diameter piping from both intakes, yet i still have $60 in my pocket. On hte other hand things like brake pads, clutches and all the turbo related stuff, id never be getting a knock off. hell, i won't even buy used turbo stuff... Hope you get my point....

It was a cartoon about solving "cases" (as in PI, FBI...etc) and if I remember correctly, the lead guy or commisioner or warden or whatever was a black guy who always wore a light-brownish shirt with rolled up sleeves and he worked with a cop who had metal arms that could extend. I would say that ricer is newbie in cars. I think everyone have been a ricer before they actually know more about their cars.

If you are young ( just got license ), parents just bought you a new car or you just bought your own car, and you saw those people with nice rims and body kits. You want your car to become something nice. And later on, you will notice that 19" rims on a civic ( just an example ) and snow plowing body kits won't get you any faster than 16sec QT on a civic. Then you start looking at the performance side. Then you know that a universal muffler is just for sound and you need a cat back. Then you noticed a high flow intake will hurt low end, and you will put the stock intake box back in and get a high flow filter and retain its N1 spec. You know you can't use a bov on the NA engine. And a cool air intake is not an intercooler ..... etc etc ...

I think ricer is just a newbie unless after 10 years of hooking up cars you still think sticker can give you some extra hp.

Rice = body kits and panels that are different shades of color and don't match up.. buying the cheapest parts for anything just to have one of them ex. big ass muffler just to say " Yo DuDE ChEck Out My CATbacK I GEt LIke 30 Hp!!! and It Sound TITE YO!" Cutting your springs to lower your car. Bragging about how fast your car is and how your dad is going to pay for your turbo when you have an auto. (no offense to automatics) Neon light in yuor car that is powered by your cigarrette lighter socket... having the classic altezzas that have moisture building up in them. Getting gauges when you don't actually have to monitor anything cause you have an N/A. etc

My favorite it the civic's that drive around with the MONSTER muffler that sounds like a pissed off bee in a coffee can, the body kit from another freakin world that isn't painted, blue head lights, "altezza style lights", monster freakin wing that does nothing but look like sh#t, big gauges for crap they already have gauges for, lighted windshield squirters, iniglo...and a whole list of crap that looks good until it gets close to a car.

Ok, I for one am a Honda owner and a Toyota owner. &nbsp;This is my OPINION and my opinion only.

Ricers are not kids in honda civics, or hondas at all. &nbsp;The reason most of them have Hondas is because their parents bought them for their first cars because they are A) relatively cheap B) fairly low maintenance C) good on gas and D) somewhat comfortable and spacious. &nbsp;If he goes out and tries to make this car look nice and the way he likes it to make himself stand out, and even if he uses his parents money, then he is not a ricer. &nbsp;What makes him a ricer is if he goes around acting like he's the fastest shit on the road and revving on everyone and trying to race on the street, then he's a ricer. &nbsp;Now I know every single one of you would jump at the chance to mod your car with your parents money, so dont rag on anyone if they actually do. &nbsp;If you just think their car looks like crap, laugh to yourself, joke with your friends, just dont go up to him and say "Man, your car looks like shit, take it home." &nbsp;Now if you go and rag on someone just because they have a Honda, I'll introduce you to my friend Robbie, who happens to have one of the fastest streetable Hondas I know of. &nbsp;He's got a Civic hatch with a swapped and fully built B18C1 Integra GS-R motor with a Turbonetics T61 turbo and Indy Race Cores custom intercooler set up. &nbsp;Now last year, with an unbuilt B18 and smaller turbo, he pulled down an 11.68 in the quarter mile. &nbsp;Honda doesnt mean ricer. &nbsp;I'm tired of everyone associating Honda with ricer. &nbsp;Cause I've seen some pretty riced out Toyotas, Dodges, Mazdas, and yes, even Nissans. &nbsp;
