I had a mishap yesterday. While driving home my car went through 1-1/2' of water destroying my front bumper and stalling the engine shortly after. The battery died as well. Upon jump starting the engine will crank, and i'm getting fuel ( i can smell raw fuel at the exhaust) but it seems like i'm getting irradict spark. I checked and cleaned the cap and rotor, there wasn't any water in it. I tried unpluging the MAF just incase water contaminated it, nothing. Tried opening the throttle all the way to unflood the engine (this i'm told turns the injectors off during startup for this purpose) occassionally you'll hear it fire a few times but it will not start.
I'm currently at my apartment so I can't really work on it much more than that or i'll get bitched at, but is there anything else you guys know that I should check out?
I'm already pissed off enough that my bumper is destroyed and now both of my fenders need work now. But I'd like to at least get to work...

Anything else I can test? I'm litterly broke, I don't have money to get a coil right now and if there's anything else I can check before having to replace the coil i'd like to.

let it dry for like a day, then try starting it, also check the spark buy pulling one wire out from the valve cover, and have someone crank the engine while u hold the wire against the cover, it should spark, if not then its your coil

This happened to someone I know.
They had a mazda and stopped at a huge puddle, a jerk in a truck came up, laid on his horn, wouldn't go around, but proceeded to push the mazda into the puddle. Flooded it and messed up the engine.
But yes, as mentioned above wait a day or two and try to start it up. Good luck :)

I don't know what the problem is specifically, but obviously the water must have screwed something up.
The only things I can think of are water in the intake or water touching some electrical component.
In any case, I second the advice of checking for spark and letting your car dry off for a day or two.
Good Luck!

Sounds like you were having a little fun and flew right into the water to destroy your front bumper. I'd let it dry off for a few days first and go from there...

engine is destroyed. Massive lower end knock. Water found it's way into the crankcase and killed my bearings just secs after going through the "pond". As far as the bumper the was a chunk of something metal in the water that took the lower lip out on my bumper. I had it with this particular car parting most of it out and getting a different 240sx to work with. one without rust problems and terrible paint. Thanks for your help guys.

That sucks, man.
But...
If your driver side door is in goood condition, with electric windows, want to send it my way?
Let's make the best out of a terrible situation. http://smileydatabase.com/s/511.gif
