To answer the question about "how much of a difference does this make", the upper panel does make a large difference - air will have to pass under your radiator support and through the radiator, instead of in your bodywork and through the hole, above the motor. Without the panel, on a hot day, I run about 200* F on my SR, with the panel, I rarely see 185*F. Honestly.

A lower piece also helps, but not as much. I hand-made all sorts of panels for mine, but it's a serious pain because of the way the hood comes in, and doesn't look as good. Bump for a great product, from a top manufacturer, at a great price.
