Hrmf. just put it on. The Intake, CAE, this Tornado thing (www.tornadoair.com.... don't flame me for being naive, but it was part of the whole setup that i got for $100)... I dunnow, lost alot of low end and gained somewhat, but less than expected, top end starting at around 4K rpm. Maybe like 2hp? It's 2.5" piping but still shouldn't it have a bit more feeling? Or just that i was expecting too much so it seems like nothing now? Oh, and i also got the water protection thingy, but have no idea where/how to mount it, cuz no matter where i try putting it, it offsets the rest of the intake so that it doesn't fit... any suggestions?

If the water protection thing is the AEM one, you have to cut the pipe and mount it that way... I've heard its sorta hard to do on your own, but if you have to tools then I guess its worth a shot...

take out that tornado air thing...you might get some HP back...cause I can tell you with my 2.5" piping, that the injen intake and Cold Air Extension DOES help...you can really feel it, depending on the outside air temp. wait till you get in 50-60 degree weather...you'll really feel it.(of course, I'm not talking 10-15-20hp, just something that you Can really feel)
if you have a dyno somewhere, and want to do us all a favor, and have some extra money, dyno your car with that tornado thing in and out...see what the difference is.
the AEM bypass filter...sell it to someone for 20 bucks. your filter has to be emerged enough for the suction to open up the bypass...if you're worried about the rain, do what I do and don't run the Cold Air Extension unless you know you're going to race.
heck, if you wouldn't mind, I wouldn't mind borrowing that tornado thing from you and dyno my car with and without....everyone in the 240 community has wanted to...but no one wanted to be the person to spend the money for the tornado thing....and I've been wanting an excuse to dyno my car.

Aight. I'll be really happy to go to a dyno and do that... anyone can clue me in on how much it is? $45? more? less? Anyways, i'm just damn curious now if i cant feel the increase in power, or my car is special and only reacts to turbo treatment that hasn't been done yet

depends....by yourself...I've heard anywhere from 30-150.00. But like I said...if you don't want to do it...I would be happy.

Like 240sxtream said....ditch the AEM bypass valve. I've only once heard of anyone hydrolocking due to their CAI...and it was the retarded ricer who drove through a foot and a half of water. No exagerration (sp?)....he had water damage up to the bottom of his seatbacks and they ended up totaling his car.
Other than that...I ran an AEM CAI for two years on my Civic Si...several times splashing through very monsterous puddles while lowered about 3" with TEINs...and never once was even concerned.
Its not worth the trouble of cutting a section of your intake out.

Yeah, i've set it up w/o the AEM bypass thingy. I mean i'll have to be getting rid of it soon anyways (turbo) so i'm not gonna be touching anything. Well, i guess i was kinda exagerating. Prolly does give somewhat of a feeling.... Hmmm how about this... It now pulls with 2 people in the car as good as with one before tha install.... will that be around correct amount?
BEISSEN, i remember your car, and yeah i could feel that thing. On my car it kinda slows down the low rpms but i rarely drive it above 3000rpms so i prolly just don't get to feel it.. Yeah, i hope i can make it to the meet.
240sxtreme where are you located? Just wondering. If you are around md, we could meet up and go dyno it.

depends on the circumstance. sure, you're lowend *might* suffer, due to your engine having to suck air through a longer tube....but, once you start driving, and once your engine and exhaust manifold gets going, it'll heat the air up quite a bit inside the engine bay, and having warm/hot air being sucked into your intake sucks for performance. and that's when the CAE makes the difference. the colder the air is outside, the more you can feel it.
as for hydrolocking, I've heard from a guy who's had 2 different friends hydrolock..but they're in Seattle, where it rains all the time, and there's large puddles. I've never seen a puddle deep enough that I'd have to drive through here.
the only thing I really worry about with the rain is on the highway(a lot of my driving), and if your behind someone, they're kicking up a constant stream of water which goes right where my Cold Air Intake would be...so it kinda worries me. otherwise..I dont' worry.
Oh god...intakes giving "power"? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease!! Maybe I just have high standards but on any car that I have owned...when I put an "intake" on...it felt worse if anything at all.
If I say "I felt a difference" ...then do help me god my car probably gained 50whp...because I don't feel little bolton mods at all.

dude, you are a riot....you really make me laugh!
so, what have you done to your car to give you 50hp at wheel?...besides your two bottles of NAWS, please enlighten.
also, so you're saying you don't feel I/H/E? um...maybe it helps if you take your car outta P, and put it into D.
dammit! all these people with fake dyno charts have been lying to me!!! boltons don't really help!!!
Pleeeeeeeeeeeease!!

of course you're not going to notice an intake upgrade if you drive like that. the intake mod is going to help breathing up top. drive it like you stole it today, and then see if it doesn't feel different.
also, keep in mind that an intake upgrade is more for the SOUND than it is for real seat-of-the-pants performance. you can't "feel" 3 hp. you can feel 7-10...but not 3-5. just fyi. enjoy the sound, get an exhaust, and then go whip some hondas.

when you first install it will sound ok but after awhile when it breaks in you will know the difference. It took me about a week to get my cae broke in and now it just take off like a demon.

I keep telling you guys, don't waste money buying expensive cold air intakes. PVC works just as well. Or buy a cheap welder, and custom fabricate your own piece of metal piping, aluminum or whatever. You can always justify more tools, and a welder is certainly handy.
Go ask anyone that races cars professionally. Many of those guys build manifolds and exhausts out of sheet metal and it works exactly the same as something with a brand name stamped on it.
As for CAI's working well, I've found they help immensely. Anyone who thinks otherwise should come to Flag (7000 ft. elevation) with their stock airbox and try it out. Major increase in off-the-line power.
