i just picked up the sweetest ride for winter (93 nissan altima 5 speed) to give my 240 a break from our NY winters. anywho, the windshield wipers and clock only work when i turn the ignition halfway on. as soon as i fully start up the car, the wipers (and clock which isnt so important) dont work anymore!! can anyone help me out here?
this altima has so many lil problems but hey for $300 its just what i needed for winter, any help would be great :)
*logs of zilvia to replace so rusty fuel lines!!
thanks guys:angel:

New ignition tumbler/switch. Least they don't fall out like on Fords.

hmmm so i might try changing the ignition switch? maybe getting a new key too? im sry for the strange questions as ive never had this problem before.
p.s. i fixed the gas leak :)
any other experiences with this problem? or possible solutions (im going to junkyard now to cut up some old altimas to see if i can further diagnose my winter rat troubles)

bump for the sister car to the 240!! my lil 93 altima :)
i will check ground and other wiring about the wiper motor today after school :)
I had a similar issue. I redid the battery terminals, lines, and grounds since it was a bit corroded and it fixed the issue. It may be that the previous owner did some kind of weird setup with the wiring so look into that, also check your fuses as well.

Well, I was going to help you till you said that. New ignition switch is about $130 if you can find one for the manual. I dunno if the Auto switch with the interlock will fit.

I dunno. I like to have my beater running smoothly before working on the 240.

last night after school i went out and checked grounds, battery terminals, and checked for ghetto rigged wires. i couldnt find anything. im worried. but i did find one thing...
when i removed the fuse panel underneath the steering wheel (checked the fuses) realized that none of the items in the "accessory" category on the fuse panel work.(when the car is fully turned on) so i dont have wipers, CD playa, power mirrors, or a ciggy lighter. All of these accessories are in the same boat while every other option in the car works when the engine is running. ignition switch??

problem solved guys! S14DB was indeed correct. the ignition switch had play in it therefore not allowing constant power to go to the accessories while the altima was running. my friend helped me wire in a simple relay to give power to the accessories once more and now i have a radio and working windshield wipers!!! :) thanks for all the help guys! i <3 ZILVIA so hard...in the pooper :)
now i can concentrate on my 240!!
