Ok...I tired to search but I only get results in regards to the "Welcome" screen login prompt, using software such as Logon Studio from Stardock.

Pretty much I have my login setup just like Windows 2000...but I want to be able to change the Windows XP pic to something else. I saw a program that did that...but only to their own logo. I basically want to change the circled part....

Anyone know how to change that?

I know this is not the typical forum for such questions...but I really don't want to join yet another forum haha

EDIT: NVM.....I figured out how to change it. :D

You've piqued my interest. Now I wanna know!

You need to download a program called Resource Hacker. Don't worry...the name is worst than what it really is. You can use this program to extract bitmaps, icons and etc. from *.dll and other system files.

Once you have that copy "msgina.dll" from your WINDOWS\System32 folder into another folder...I just choose my desktop.

Now with Resource Hacker open the msgina.dll you just copy, click on the bitmap folder and then choose folders 101 and 107 (103 is for the bar). For each folder there will be one bitmap, highlight it, then choose action-> save bitmap. Here's a pic....

Use your favorite art program and replace the bitmap with something you like...and it must be that size.

Go back to Resource Hacker, highlight the bitmap you want to replace and choose action-> replace bitmap. Save the file and move it to your C: drive (i will explain why real soon)

Assuming you have a windows xp cd, restart the computer and boot the CD, then go into recovery console...which is pretty much DOS. Logon and change your directory to the C:\ drive.

Once there do this command to copy the modified msgina.dll to the system32 folder

C:\> copy msgina.dll c:\windows\system32\

Your doing this because its the only way to overwrite the system file, since Windows is using it when your at the full GUI. Also I moved it to the C:\ drive because less typing is involved. Once that's done, exit out and that's it.

Here is what I have for now....
