Wheels are an important part of a car, be it aesthestic or practical. The are the second to last thing that connects your car to the road, before tires.
so let's list best wheels for each chassi of the 240sx. Include the name and manufacturer, color, offset, diameter, width, chassi (S13 or S14), and price for the set. Then if you would be so kind as to whether the wheels are more for aesthetic reasons or because they make the car faster or turn better. Also if you have the wheels and note your experiences, or if you just think they'll look good or turn better. Include pics if you can.

17s hyberblack aesthetics
Stock S14 SE wheels
painted black aesthetics
(can't find the pic)
all for s13 fastbacks
I don't know what looks good for s14, can't really ask for much more than the SE wheels
I think some of the best wheels for performance (most trusted?) would have to be Buddy Club, Volk Racing, SSR and Advan. When my time comes to buy rims, it'll be one of those!

oh i know, they both are. i should have also said cost in the criteria, because those are a buck and change a wheel. sorry, but i wouldn't pay over 2000 for wheels. that money could be better spent on a turbo or a good driving class. but if i was a autocrosser or something i'd get the s14 SE wheels or g20 mesh wheels

I like the way Skyline rims look.
And they're light too.

Volk Racing Gram Lights 57PRO, thats what i'm getting, thay are lite and look good in Gunmetal, 17 x 9.0 and 17 x 10.0, the price is $490.00 for 17x9.0(each) and $510.00 for 17x10.0(each) <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

Well those two rims are knockoffs
the GT-5 is a copy of the VOLK Challenge and the other is a really really poor copy of the Super Advan Generation II.

Knockoffs can be cool sometimes. Like the rota knockoffs of the Gram lights and whatever honda wheel the slipstream is a knock of off are actually pretty light.

I want to go w/ a 3 spoke Advan in gunmetal w/ the red lip. It would look sooooo hot on my car not to metion reducing the unsprung weight on the car. Just have to save up $2500. So needless to say they're pretty low on the to do list.

Hey Nizmo S14,
What offset are you gonna run with those width's. Because i would love to run some 10 inch wide rims in the back on my S14

do the super advans even come in gunmetal w/ the red lip? Just wondering because I've only seen the black with red lip, black with blue lip and the all silver ones.
By the way, if anyone is interested, a friend is selling the super advans, black with the red lip, with bridgestone pole position rubber. i believe it's 17x9 up front and 17x10 for rears

Umm.... whoa.... ok...
u want 10"s in the for drifting...
Riiiiiight.
And what have you done to you car to have enough power to drift 10s? Sounds like a stupid waste of $ for me. Drifters go through tires like water... You're either confused, or you have way to much money.

Put it to you this way, I burn up a set of tires in ONE drift session... can u image how much it would cost to replace 10" Z+ rated tires that often?
Drifters do NOT have nice cars (if they do, they have sponsors up the ass, and they're in japan, don't expect that here). Most joe schmoe drifter guys have cars that look like they've hit guardrails a LOT... cuz they have... goes with the territory.
It sounds like you'd like a nice lookin car, and who doesn't? I'm just forewarning you, the path to a pretty car, and the path to a drift car go in separate directions...
as far as the tires, I've gone the cheapest way, I get thrashed tires from friends and tires headed to the junkyard from tire shops, then all I pay for is having them mounted on my extra set of rims. Trust me, if you're serious about sliding the car, this is the only reasonable way to go.

Using 17x10 at the rear for drifting .. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/butbut.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':but:'>
The cost of tires are going to be EXPENSIVE !!!
"a little confused" sounds like a 'huge understatement'. You have much to learn, and it's not like I can teach you (though I wish I could!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> ...
so this hypothetical 400hp car of yours is going to have 9" fronts and 10" rears eh? with equivalent rubber you'd better have mucho money otherwise you'll be done after your first attempt at drifting... that is, your not being able to break traction on the 10" rears and slamming pretty hard into either a rock wall or through some guard rails and off a cliff.
Okay. Maybe some added dramatic effect for emphasis... but still.
And when might we be graced with this 400hp beast of yours?

He's right. In any one drift session, the MINIMUM amount of spare wheels/tires you should have is one complete set (ie: 4). If you have friend that is willing to bring more for you, even better. We have a drift competition coming up this saturday, and I'm unfortunately taking just one set of extra wheels/tires. A friend of mine takes two sets each time, and we're almost guaranteed to go through all we have. So you can see that drifting is an expensive sport in just the tires section. Coupled onto that the cost of damaged body panels, broken drivetrains, over revved engines and scores of other things. The cost of constantly having to replace tires that fit 17X10 wheels will be unbelievable. Plus the fact that it's going to be a biatch to break those suckers loose.

uhhh... yeah. right. exactly.
and just FYI, if you're about to pay 510 per 17x10" Gram Light, you deserve to pay for the tires too. Gram lights in that size should be no more than ~350 or 400 max per wheel. you're getting ripped off.

Actually he's not gettin ripped off. He said he was getting GL57 Pro not GL57C. The C are the cast version and yes, are about 300 ea.
Gram lite come in 3 versions:
GL57C- Cast, cheaper
GL57F- Forged, cost as much as TE37 etc..
GL57 Pro- 2- piece polished lip. lil more expensive.
oops, apologies for my misinformation! I had no idea they made a forged version. I don't suppose they'd offer that in a more conservative 16" size though... would they? If I were giong to spend 500/wheel on Volks, I'd have to get the GT-Ns. Actually they do make the GL57F and C in 16". THe GT-N really are not that light. I had both the GT-N and GT-C on my FD....my next setup would have been the CE28N now those are some light rims.

Hmm, so the gram light GL57F is FORGD, and C is CAST? Pro would be 2-piece, Forged I assume.
Re: my desire for GT-Ns... what size did you have them in, and how much did they weigh/wheel? I like these (and the CE28N) more because I like the way they look rather than how much they weigh. Well, that's just because I don't know how much they weigh.
If I'm not mistaken, didn't CE28Ns come stock (or as an option?) on some Lancer Evolution VIIs? I see these running around on CE28Ns all the time.
From what I've read, the CE28Ns are going to be lighter than TE37s in similar sizes. however, wouldn't the poor (relative to the TE37) aerodynamics of the CE28N make up for the weight loss? I wouldn't be surprised if you could gain 0.01 (or more) coefficient of drag by wearing the TEs over the CEs... But thats just me speculating.
So the gram lights on the page that nizmo S14 posted are actually the Cast (not forged) versions... ?

Why has no one mentioned Ro_Ja? I don't believe they are rice rims, the Formula 5 is the best looking rim ever made IMO, they are like 1800 for a tire/wheel package. Are they as light as Volk, SSR, etc.? What do you guys think?

Actually my "fun" rims are going to be rota slipstream 15's most likely. I might run 16's, but I can get 205/55/15's for $20 at used tire stores mounted and balanced with good tread. Even though these are a spoon knock off... Spoon gets their rims from Rega Master (called the Evo)... who makes that same wheel in a few more sizes. So I'm going with some black Slipstreams since they don't say Spoon on them... and they are a 40 offset... (deeper prefered... but it'll work).
