Just thought I would share this info with others that enjoy the series..... hmm seems its going to be murdered state side.

Also set for sometime in 2003 are Initial D, and Reign (AKA Alexander.) ID is their marquee title, the one they intend to get on TV and market for all its worth but there are still no details on a release. However this push on that title may lead to things that will diplease many fans - starting with volume 2 of the manga, the characters have all been renamed, and while we are still promised "the original Initial D that you fell in love it," and thanks to the wonders of DVD that seems possible for the anime, the manga seems to be stuck. They seem to believe they have the Third Stage movie, but no one seemed entirely sure.

okay, i've been wondering this for a while... .
what makes a particular anime "manga"? i"m so lost on this one, I used to think I knew, and now i've got no idea... synonyms or what?
what are the classifications of anime types and why are they named that way? ... no clarification for hentai req hehee

After hearing TokyoPops trailer for Initial D, it sounds like they are gonna make it into the cartoon fast and furious . Also, why the hell do you change the characters names? Glad i have Vol.1 of the Manga, and all the Taiwan copies of the Anime except Extra Stage. The only reason i will consider buying the US release is for a better translation to the subtitles, I never watch the english forms anyway...
Manga = Comic
Anime = Video

It's my understanding that "Manga" is the comic book version and "Anime" is well...the animated version.
and what disturbs me if they're bringing Initial D overseas to the US is what they're going to do about the voices. You can already feel that they're going to have some terrible english dubbing.

okay, if Manga is the comic, then why are TONS of people referring to certain videos as manga, for example, I was looking at appleseed on vhs, and amazon (I think it was amazon) referred to it as "manga".... I'm so lost...

from what i understand, Manga is the name of the company that pioneered the idea of Japanese-style animation. anything that is not from Manga, is just called Anime. It's like, there's cartoons, and then there's Disney...sorta. read about it at www.manga.com

OH GOD NO!!!!!!! . For my sake there better be a DVD subtitled version of Intial D!!! Cuz i loved DBZ but that was butchered all to hell to they got the DVD's going and now it much more easier to swallow. I knoe what Initial D is, but i want it in PURE RAW FORM SUBTITLES W/ NIHNONGO-GA(japanese language for non speaking japanese ppl). I been waiting for something to break loose bout it i jus want it done right i will make sure i will not listen to the english subs at all. They are changing names WTF... Like all the anime on cartoonnetwork is retaining some of their names. I wonder why they gonna do that and piss us off really bad. Make it into some FAST and FURIOUS SHIET? blahhh americanized amine can suck my *BEEP*... i had to vent out a lil bit

Hmm now they are ruining Initial D. I betta get a car before drifting is taken to another extreme. Its bad enough now, juss wait till they come out over here.
Why are they chinging thier names. Now Takumi will be known as Brian Spilner, and the Nite Kids guy (who drives R32), will be known as Dominick Terreto.
