I've been trying to find out what diff cover would work for me, but results have been inconclusive. Is there any OEM nissan diff cover that will bolt up to an S14 subframe that has fins? My stocker is smooth and I'd like some more cooling ability without dropping 3 bills on the GReddy one.

not that I know off, I rocked a r33 diff, and it had fins on it, but I swapped it out for the flat face becouse of mounting..

Doesn't Greddy make a cover for S14/15 diffs?

Greddy does make one and I even believe there's a knockoff out there, I just don't think its worth it, there are far more pressing things to spend $300 on. I'll look into the J30 VLSD cover. Thanks!

Early J30 covers (93-94) are finned, but not the 95+ models, early Z32 are as well but I don't know the cutoff date. The J30/Z32s are slightly larger and hold a pinch more fluid too.
The Greddy can be had for $214 shipped (what I paid), and the knockoff on Ebay for $89 is damn close but with a rougher casting inside/out. These hold a full quart more, and look gorgeous on the car.

Reading owns me - I just read the title and the two replies.
Russ knows all about S14.

Thanks Russ, I'll have to keep an eye out for the knockoffs. There aren't any listed right now it seems. The extra capacity would be nice, and for $89 its worth it. I got my car running by the way, I may drop by this weekend to get my impact wrench from dat and give you the oil pan.

I just tried the place I got mine from and they don't have it. Dunno what's up with that.

Cool, you can look at mine in detail. And maybe ride it in, it's running too.

I'll bring an airsickness bag for you for when I show you my engine bay.
S14DB, where did you get yours? Was it one of the knockoffs?

My greddy knockoff works fine and holds an extra quart. Ports for a diffcooler are welcome as well.

my question.....why?!?! Unless a full blown race car, dont you guys think that money could be spent elsewhere.....or just on good diff fluid.

I put a cusco 1.5way in mine and do autox and track events with it... the ocasional drifting event... I prefer the extended diff fluid changes the extra quart provides me. That cusco makes a mess of that fluid quickly.

I track my car mostly for 20-25 minute sessions. If EDM silvias came with an optional diff cooler, many skylines run them, bmws run finned diff covers or external coolers, etc, there must be a purpose. Would I pay $300 for a greddy cover when I could get a J30 for a pittance? No, but if I can get a knockoff for around $100 that holds a little more fluid for added heat capacity and has fins for better cooling, I'll do that. Redline gear oil is expensive, and if I have to change it less with a finned/larger cover, I'll certainly save some time and money.

Update: You can buy the knockoff for around $125 shipped on the XO2racing website.
