First I'll start by saying that the wheels I want are few and far between, and there is a set available now so I kinda want to jump on them.
17x9+40 114.3
17x10+46 114.3
I would put a 225/40 on the front and 245/35 on the rear, car is just used for cruising, not a daily driver, not a track car.
I know the offsets are wack, but that could be remedied with spacers right?
Do you guys think that these will clear Z brakes, coilovers, and tuck under the fenders? I don't want to have to roll them, but I will if I have to.
and lastly, does getting fenders rolled entail any paint work? and do most body shops do it?
Thanks for all your answers in advance, I did a few searches and came up empty.

you'll need at least +20 spacers, and as a result should clear any brakes
also dependent on tire size, height, and coilover design
rolling fenders? hammer, rag, torch

um, he's serious. You can easily roll your fenders with a hammer and a torch

I find it a bit incredulous that someone contemplating the purchase of incredibly ugly, +40ish offset wheels is going to be finnicky about fender rolling, especially since he is the one asking about wheel fitment advice.
I'm hardly an expert on the topic of wheels, but the original poster is completely ignorant...yet here he is, scoffing at free help because he thinks it's not "legit".
Wonderful.

17x9+40 and 17x10+46? 17x9 +40 is bad enough but i dont even think u can mount a 17X10 +46 to a 240sx. thats a horrible size.

thats what i'm sayin, the sizes are weak as hell. I'm probably just gonna hold out til I find 17x8 17x9s.
and whys everyone getting all bent outta shape about my "legit" comment? I thought he was joking about the hammer thing... If I knew then I wouldnt have asked.
and they look way better than the volk 3 spokes

So you originally wanted to get weak sizes, then now you want to get...other weak sizes?
Great save.

whats your budget for wheels? is your car 5 lug?

17x9, anything +15 to +22.. Let's you clear coilovers and fit real rubber if you actually wanted to go fast; or still pretty flush without widebody or pulling. Lower offset and wider wheel if you wanted to put in more work.
Anything with offset creeping too far over 20 starts running into clearance problems.
I'm not nearly the offset nazi some others here are, but this is something you could have found in any of the 235013490 wheel threads. You clearly do not have it figured out.
But hey, if you're never gonna track the car and you're unable or unwilling research some basic knowledge, buy whatever the hell you want (preferrably a different car, that's just my own worthless opinion).

My budget will be about a grand... and the car will be 5 lug.
I sold my 96 last year and I miss it so I'm buying my friends 97 in a couple of weeks. To me theres no better looking, or more fun car to drive for under 5 grand..
