I'm not sure if it will work on US 240sx, Is our trans diff 5spd right. If so, How much is a s14 trans for a 95 and is it 6spd?
(I could use an extra gear anyways)

I believe this is for the transmission that comes with the SR20DET. Its a bit different than ours, and wont mount to the KA motor. Honestly Id find it a little boaring to drive, but I guess it could be pretty useful for drag racing or something.

I'd guess that since the KA and SR trannies are similar, and that since short shifters and such are interchangeable between the two, and that I've heard from a few KA owners pondering using this shifter, the shifter would be adaptable to a KA as easily as it would be to an SR (It looks as though it mounts similar to a short shifter though).
You'd still need to use your clutch though, so the only ease it would bring would be to simplify shifting, the biggest difference being diagonal shifts like 2-3 or 4-5 shifts, being able to "find gears" easier.

The only 6 speed tranny that might bolt into a 240sx directly is the S15 tranny.

That shifter is just a shifter, not a tranny, so it won't change how many gears you'd have.

Yeah, I was just about to say....that $941 is for the actual SHIFTER only...no for the trans...

I diddent say it was a trans or came with one at all, I just think the shifter is neat enough that I would buy a trans for my car that this shifter would work with. I guess i'll have to research if I can drop a Silvia S14 trans in my 95 240sx.

Red, I'm going to be nice here.

The s14 tranny is a five speed w/ the same ratios as the KA.

Why don't you research whether that POS shifter will fit onto your existing tranny - since you seem so obsessed w/ it and since you won't get any benefits from that. If you want an s15 tranny, you are in for many, many mods.

So what your saying is an S14 is an S14 is an S14.... So if you would have clicked on the little link I put on my post. you should have noticed that this shifter is for (Silvia S14 year 93.10~98.12) but thanks, now I know that the Silvia S14 has the same trans as my 240sx S14 and I can now go buy this POS shifter for my POS car and see if I can shift that little POS any faster.

But you made me see the light i'm just guna scrap the whole idea of upgrading this car (becus why start with a 7.7 0-60 car when I can get a 5.5 0-60) hell i'll spend more cash trying to get this to corner and go fast when I want a AWD real sports car anyways.... Guess I dont need this page anymore!

Um... whoa. Okay guys... settle down...
I think we all need to lighten up a bit...

Red, I don't think Hippo meant to piss you off, it's just that the majority of us would spend $900 or whatever it costs on something that would make the car significantly faster is all, this shifter seems like more of a "finishing touch" type mod for some crazyass car that looks like a showcar, puts out 600rwhp, and a .99 skidpad or something.

Okay, perhaps a bit abrasive. Here is where a search function would make the world a friendlier place. I think I was annoyed from your topic title on. This isn't exactly a new invention that escaped us all, so you came across as some kid who didn't know what he was talking about. If that is inaccurate, my condolences. Despite your little rant, I'm still feeling generous.

The "sequential shifter" will not increase the performance of your car unless you shift poorly - which can be fixed with practice. As stated above, you will still need the clutch. If you can't shift as fast as you can floor and release the clutch, keep practicing. I assure you magazine testers who get the 0-60 times can - so while you won't see any absolute improvement, maybe it will work as a crutch for your lack of skill. At $900, I could do two mods that would net me dyno proven hp that would equate to absolute improvement. The point is that it is not a functional upgrade.

As for fitment, you will want to make sure that there are no issues with the KA casing mating up to it. Otherwise, you will need an SR tranny casing... which is about as bad as needing an SR-swap b/c it won't match up to the KA casing. Swapping an SR will, however, give you better performance w/ the IKEA shifter.

Finally, do you really think that a goddamb Rice-lever is going to reduce your 0-60 times by 2.2 seconds?! Do you know how fast that is? Here's some examples: Mustang Cobra, BMW M3 Coupe, 911 Carrera-4. I don't think there is much you can do short of extensive work on a TC car that will reach that plateau.

I appreciate the attitude and welcome your next stupid question.

Very truly yours,
RhinoStylish

just a couple quick things...

the shifter is for RHD, which means it's angled to the right.. would be odd to drive with on a LHD car.. also I was under the impression that the SR and KA trannies where the SAME tranny. all the short throw shifters (like C's, and Nismo) are made for the SR. We just use them in the KA tranny. so it will bolt up fine.

good point about the RHD. but am i the only person here that thinks that is the ugliest, most home-grown-looking piece of crap out there? i'd rather deal with the normal H pattern than deal with having that towering beast in my car. <puke>

plus, $941 would buy an HRC FMIC and a Blitz BOV. yay!

Well cool, I got a lot of good info out of this. Thanks all for your input and I’m sorry for the lame name on my post. I was tired and excited to see something cheaper than a real 10k sequential shifter but your right its ugly as sin, (but it is near your steering wheel, which is preferable.) I was thinking big ugly shift boot myself, but hey this POS has a some potential and I’ll wait on the AWD car.

I can come up with some more stupid questions.

But being in the I.T. field you realize that most questions sound stupid, But in reality its just someone that has no idea what they are talking about hoping for someone with a clue on the certain subject to push them in the right direction. Yes that would be me at this moment.

Taking a second look made me realize how big it actually is. Heh, quite picking on him, cause someday i want to have a sequential shifter in my car. Of course that wont be until it has 300+hp and used as a racecar! That is fukin expensive for a shifter though.

you know theres a shifter made by 5zigen for like ~1500 that changes the car from manual to sequential using the stock shifter. it's suppose to have really fast shits, and be for race apps..

Red =

Sequential trannys just aren't too practical for a road car any way. They break much more often and require way more maintenance when working. There's a reason Porsche, Audi, and the rest have a quasi-sequential tranny. B/c the real deal doesn't work well in a commuter car application.

Otherwise, the shifter should be way up there (a la the new Civic). Check out the placement on the WRC cars (excluding those damb Peugeot paddles ). The idea is to get as little hand off the wheel time as possible.

And the Go Zigen is the same deal as the IKEA. Untill you get the full deal, you will need a clutch.

nope the 5zigen is clutchless in the "Automatic" shift mode.
