I am trying to extend turbo manifold life/crackage. i have 2 mounts to choose from. Nismo or syko urethane. i have both. nismo's are installed in teh car right now. how much of a difference would the syko mounts make as in stiffness. or can i be lazy and just keep the nismo mounts that are already in teh car

Never heard of syko, I have kazama, doesnt get any stiffer and I love it.

drift freaq for the win
in all honesty nismo isnt all that stiffer. Its stiffer for a small amount of time until they break in.
as for the others, i have never heard of them

Make sure you get the Nismo tranny mount with the exhaust support bracket. A lot of vibration comes from the tail of the tranny moving around on the stock mount. The Seat mounts are right by the tranny mount so you really feel that in the ass. Upgrading the motor mounts and not the tranny mount only amplifies the problem.
Some of the Tranny mounts like Peak eliminate the Exhaust support which triangulates the Manifold, Outlet and DP with the motor. Nismo is the only one I have seen that retains the exhaust mount. It's critical that you keep that support.

any other way is a serious waste of money.

^get some kazama mounts and tell me that again. Those things are seriously stiff. As for the exhaust bracket, its only really important for a DD car, and even then its ok, bu over time it wears.

If you really consider having extra stiff motor mounts worth 180 dollars over others that work damn well. k.

only $180 on a car I have 25K+ into, yea I think its worth it.

I'll probably get Kazama or Cusco... They looks amazing.

have you guys seen the projectnissan one?

looks like the Kazama, probably will feel the same without the price.

I've got the Nismo mounts and love them. I haven't had any problems with my exhaust either. So I'd say they're doing their job.
Yokota do you feel like yours got softer? How long did that take? I've had mine for over a year and they're still as stiff as when I installed them.

They look like they arent fully solid, the kazamas dont move anymore than a few mm. I know this because the full race manifold gives like 5mm of clearance (if not less) for the wastegate and it has yet to hit anything. Putting the motor in sucks though...
And the price difference isnt much. I have kazamas with peak race tranny mount, great combination. And like djpimpflex said its such a fraction of the cost of the car....

I run the Cusco- very similar if not the same to Kazama and Project Nissan.

does anybody have experience with the projectnissan ones? as they look very similar to the kazama ones, but are half the price?

I'd have to disagree. It's there's for a reason, and typically the people complaining about cracked manifolds, elbows, downpipes, etc. alll have that in common, they failed to use the exhaust bracket to the transmission. Even with the OE exhaust there's a tremendous load on the head flange and manifold flange because the entire weight of the exhaust, not to mention being amplified by swinging back and forth on the rubber hangers, it transmitted directly to them. I've seen four OE downpipes break right off at the manifold when the transmission bracket isn't used. For those looking to be hardcore, a Nismo mount fitted with a Tanabe mount insert is the most solid and OE fitting option there is. If not, you should at least build a bracket and attach it somewhere else to secure the downpipe when using a generic block mount.

^well if you have upgraded exhaust hangers the movement of the exhaust is limited, and the wear can be reduced. If I was to drive my car on the street I would go nismo or poly injection, but for a race car only I would go peak performance and kazama, and upgraded exhaust hangers and regular manitence, exactly my set up.

If you were to make a bracket attaching it elsewhere you would want it to attach to a part of the drivetrain that is solid. Not the chassis. So that it would be, in effect, like the stock bracket.

^ Exactly. There's a pic somewhere floating around of a bracket a guy made that mounts to the rearmost section of the transmission, there's a tab that extends out on either side, and it's bolting through it.
And I'd still argue daily driver vs. race car. A daily driver isn't going to see the extremes a race car would, and therefore wouldn't be under as much stress. In other words, a race car only would benefit more from a secure exhaust mount as it's under more loads than a normal car driving around town. Unless your town is full of large potholes and you intentionally hit them all.

^I would argue that a race car sees less miles and more routine mantience hence it wouldnt be as big of an issue.

The point of that exhaust hanger though is to help out the exhaust manifold. Those things are not exactly routine maintainence and if they are then that is a motorsport I wish to someday become a part of (a lot of actual serious motorsports).
The director of Audi once commented that the 24hours of Lemans would be the equivalent of 100 thousand street miles with no maintainence done.
