Is there any class (club racing or other) in the SCCA that allow for an S14 with a DET engine?

Anyone have any idea about this?

How about Auto-X?

I don't think you are going to like the answer...

*edit* Nothing to see... move along.

In autox, it varies. Street Mod may take you, but mods there are limited to those possible on street cars. Since the SR can't legally be registered, you can't technically be street legal, so you can't be in SM. The next step would be one of the mod classes where you would get killed! But, unlike SCCA where the car needs a logbook, autox allows you to run unless someone protests you. I doubt anyone would protest you in SM until you are at the national level.

You're right. I don't like that answer.

Thanks though!

i don't think that SCCA allows turbo cars in W2W period.

Yea, i hate that! I also did some looking into it, and with an SR, you would be in the mod class witch has stuff like formula fords and star mazdas...you know, the open wheel crap . It gets even worse if ya want to road race....ur pretty much screwed out of that too!

I have decided to build the SR anyway, and run in the mod class in AutoX, and my local track has fun days where i can run anything all night long (Not wheel to wheel though).

Early S13 (SOHC) = ITA
Later S13 (DOHC) = ITS
S14 = ITS
Turbo Anything = ITE, which is a catch all class. Porsche 944 turbos fall into this class as well as any other car from other race series that are not prepped to IT trim. It has a pretty wide range of cars. Some days you could place high easily other days you'll get your arse handed to you. All depends on who shows up that weekend.

Not so sure about Autox classification.

Hizzah - I finally found a site that breaks down the GCR for ITE!

bbp is right and I am wrong. Having never seen the 240 come up ITE anywhere I thought that a motor swap was disallowed but that you could boost the KA. Nope. Very little restriction on engine.

Hey, could you elaborate please? I cant get my adobe to work.

So does this mean that in ITE, you could potentially have an SR20DET? If so, is there still restrictions on turbo sizing?

** Ok, so my adobe works now...it looks like turbocharging the KA would be allowed, but the SR swap would not....here is my reasoning:
5. ENGINE
5.1. Reciprocating
5.1.1. Must remain in stock location.

So does that mean that it needs to be the engine the car came with though? It seems like we may be ble to get around this considering that the SR bolts up to "stock locations".

5.1.10. Cars under 3.0 liters are allowed any single (1) turbo/supercharging unit.

That right there looks like we could turbo the KA....but it gives no restrictions on turbo sizing.....:D That could be fun.

Please someone fix me if im worng.

tyler you are correct. an SR swap would be ok.

the most important thing now is safety equipment. they will NOT let anyone race without the minimum safety equipment like:

belts
seat back brace (for non 1 piece race seats)
fire bottle
8 point cage constructed of suitable material
window net
kill switch
proper numbers sizes and placement with logos too
transponders (some regions required)
sunroof bolted down
steering lock disabled

there is probably some more but thats all that comes to mind right now.

Keep in mind that ITE is going to be $$$$ and pretty fast to run in. I know it's all about having fun, but...

Heck, I was looking at ITA and cringing at how far you could go!
