Im curious to know the differences between the vlsd and a regular lsd. You know advantages, disadvantages etc.

If you have an S13, you'll only have a stock VLSD if you also have ABS and SuperHICAS. Aftermarket, the only way to tell are the old LSD tricks (spin one wheel in the air and watch the other), or to look for an orange sticker on the diff itself.
VLSD is simply a type of LSD that uses a set of plates sandwiched close to each other in a viscous silicone fluid. The viscosity of the fluid resists allowing the axles to spin at different speeds.
Other types are clutch and helical. Clutch LSDs are the classic type that use a set of spring loaded plates or cones to resist slip. Clutch LSDs are what came in older cars, and what you get if you buy an LSD from Kaaz, Cusco, Nismo, etc. Helical use the property of a worm gear in that it can only drive another gear, not be driven. Quaife and Peloquin make these, and Nissan used them in the S15 Spec-R.

That doesn't really mean anything. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

well i revved it up to about 6600, dropped the clutch, adn it just slowly accelerated away, staying pinned around 6500, with nary a sound from me tires, even my boys focus can squeak them at least, me got nothing, even though it still ate up my clutch <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/butbut.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':but:'>

do a search... SuperHICAS has been gone over again and again, you'd know if you had it, there are stickers on the sides of the car in that black stripe behind the doors. It's four wheel steering.
VLSD, it's a differential... it's between the rear wheels... obviously.
