Okay- I know that this topic has already been discussed over and over again, but I just did a search, and I can't find the old thread I was looking for. With THAT outta the way, I have a set of 17X7 +32 wheels in front and 17X8 +35 out back on my S13, and now I need some rubber. I'm not adverse to doing the math, but I would like some honest opinions on ppl that run this wheel size arrangement, and what sizes seem to work/look the best. I want my tire tread (215 on 7" wheel?) to stand straight up off of the wheel width wise, but I'm also interested in how tall the tire is in relationship to looks/handling. Can anybody help me out on this one? Maybe even send some pics in to see visually how they look? Thanks so much in advance for all the info.!

hey v8,

i'm not sure about the squarness of the tire to the width of the wheel but as far as wheel diameter goes,  i checked on tirerack and the tire diameter of the STOCK tire size of 195/60/15 is 24.1 to 24.3".  and for 17" wheels,  the 205/45/17 measures 24.2",  right in between..and i think that would be a pretty square fit but me personally would like a wider tire, so i checked 215/45/17s which measured at 24.6" and 235/40/17 at 24.4".  i couldn't find 225/40/17 but i think they would be right around 24.3 or .4".
now my question for you is:  where the #### can you actually find a set of 'four lug wheels'  that you can specifically order the backspacing or offset like the set that you have?  it's driving me crazy.  i want my back wheels to stick out and make the car look pissed off!!  thanks and hope that helps a bit.  if you need further guidance you can go to tirerack and click the specs link of any tire and it will tell you the diameter..

EGADS Mike! You're IN Japan!!!!!!! You can find wheels? We should be having YOU send over wheels from where you are! I bought especially light road racing wheels from Japan, and had them shipped over here, 'cause I couldn't find anyone here that had wheels that would fit my wells, and still be "weird" with the 4-lug setup. I would SERIOUSLY suggest looking around your neighborhood and see what you can come up with! They're not CHEAP, but they're OUT THERE.
Best of luck, and thanx for the info.!

well,  i'm not exactly in japan,  i'm on okinawa,  a tiny ass island about 300 miles south of japan.   yeah, it has it's share of 180s, sils and skylines but unfortunately,  the marine corps is very stingy about giving out licenses over here and i don't find my way around much.  but i'm getting there slowly but surely.

i think 225's for the 17x7'z and 235's for the 17x8's wouold be perfect
