ok here's the story.....i bought a totaled 91 240 for a good deal with all the damage in the front but the engine, tranny, and rest of the drive train still good....i want to put the super hicas system in my 89 240....is that possible or way too expensive cause i dotn know what all it will involve....i know i'm definatly going to take the lsd out of the back of the 91 in my 89 but i think the hicas system will just cost way too much in time and labor.....any thoughts on the subject would be very appreciated....thanks!!!!

HICAS is "sorta" like 4 wheel steering when the computers feel the car is getting "out of control", but that's by it's own definition; which more often than not is NOT the same definition as the performance driver.
I know I'm biased cuz I slide on purpose, but it seems like WAY too much trouble for something that's going to fight you. Counterpoint-you may NOT want to drive like Takumi or AutoX every weekend. In that case you'll prolly enjoy knowing that the computer will help you out if you get too squirrely for your own good.
As far as all 240's being the same, that's a good statement for about everything except the HICAS. There's a ton of computer stuff that would need to be changed (I believe HICAS models also had ABS standard, but i'm not 100% on that)...
Bottom line... the changes required for doing a changover would be very tedious and VERY expensive. Weight your options and your driving style (realistically, do you seriously AutoX every weekend, or just drive like you do), and make the decision yourself... however, I think if you decided to do it, you might end up spending enough that maybe it's better to just get a 240 w/HICAS already, the price difference will be comparable in my opinion.
